About this property

Haworth 2 miles. Stanbury village with 2 pubs is 1 mile away. The famous Bronte village of Haworth 2 miles.

Scar Top Mistal is a former farm building, adjacent to Ponden Reservoir, converted in 2021. It is an idyllic hideaway, resting rurally on the edge of Oldfield village next to Haworth in West Yorkshire. It is a five minute walk from Ponden Hall, reputedly Thrushcross Grange in “Wuthering Heights”. The Pennine Way and the Bronte Way are close by. You can walk across the moor to Ponden Kirk and the Fairy Cave. This charming, single-storey home boasts breath-taking countryside views, perfectly accompanied by its traditional and open-plan interior, making it the ideal base for a tranquil getaway, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Park up, unload your belongings, and breathe in the fresh West Yorkshire air whilst appreciating far-reaching views of the countryside. Step indoors and be greeted by the living space, complete with a fully-equipped modern kitchen, dedicated dining space and an inviting sitting area, with grand, antique furniture and leather armchairs to sink into. If the weather allows, throw open the patio doors and relish alfresco mealtimes, where you can while away the evening with a glass of wine as the sun sets with the possibility of seeing owls and deer in the field as stars appear over Scar Top Mistal. When sleep calls, select between two double bedrooms, both featuring TVs and plenty of storage whilst a spacious bathroom completes the home, ideal for those with limited mobility, housing both a bath and an easy access shower. If you can tear yourself away from your peaceful abode, head into the village of Stanbury where you can dine out at the Wuthering Heights. Alternatively and even closer are The Grouse and the Old Silent, well known pubs, serving traditional food and hand pulled real ale. Haworth, is just a five minute drive away․ The Parsonage, the home of the Bronte sisters is now a world famous museum․ The main cobbled street has pubs and restaurants in abundance and is a “fair trade” village with shops selling all manner of local produce․ You can take a ride on the Worth Valley Steam Railway or you can hike up to the Bronte Waterfall. Further afield is Skipton, a bustling, historic market town, filled with a range of independent shops, eateries, pubs, and the impressive Norman castle․ You can take a boat ride or a stroll on the canal or take a trip on the steam train from Embsay or visit Bolton Abbey to admire its breath-taking beauty, guiding you into the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Oakworth is a small Pennine village just a short drive from Haworth, overlooking the Worth Valley, made famous by the filming of the classic 1970 film version of E.E. Nesbitt's novel, The Railway Children. Besides its close proximity to Haworth and the moors, Oakworth has an attractive ornamental park, and is within easy reach of the town of Keighley. Nearby Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were much-inspired by the surrounding moorland. Haworth has a myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, and all this against a backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights. Nearby, the famous Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, makes a lovely day out, with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area is full of popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the Museum of Rail. The market town of Skipton, Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate, and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.

No cheese grater, only one bin which was in the kitchen, so any bathroom waste had to be put in that bin. Also the non stick saucepans are not useable inasmuch as bits of the coating have come off and rust has developed. Luckily the two stainless steel saucepans were good as was the frying pan. Lovely big refrigerator and a fair sized counter top freezer. We enjoyed our stay.
