About this property

The owner of Rest Ashore understands what families need for a relaxed and comfortable holiday by the seaside. This three-bedroom holiday home is a mere three-minute stroll from Bridlington's North Beach and within a short walk of shops, cafes, takeaways and family-friendly pubs. It sleeps five people in three bedrooms, with two reception rooms and French doors opening into the enclosed garden. Flamborough Head, the RSPB Reserve at Bempton Cliffs, Filey and Scarborough are all nearby. The cottage has secure bicycle storage and off-street parking.

Rest Ashore is a spacious and welcoming holiday home on a quiet residential street in Bridlington. The seaside town has been popular with families for generations, and you'll find a superb variety of places to eat, drink and shop all within a short stroll from the door. The beach is so close that It will almost take you longer to grab your sun hat and your beach towel than it will take you to walk from the house to the seafront promenade. Rest Ashore sleeps five people in three bedrooms, an enclosed garden, and all of the amenities and comforts families look for when booking a holiday property.

Bridlington is a perennial favourite with water ideal for swimming, paddle-boarding, kayaking and windsurfing. The northern stretch of the long sand and shingle shoreline is sheltered by the Flamborough Cliffs, while the south faces a picturesque working harbour. Walking along the Maritime Trail will give you an understanding of the town's seafaring history and is an excellent way to orientate yourself on your arrival. The coastal footpath around Danes Dyke to Flamborough Head is incredibly scenic. You can continue to the rspb Reserve at Bempton Cliffs or cycle or drive there if your legs aren't up to the 11-mile coastal walk.

Even booking in the height of summer can't guarantee beach weather but that is not a problem. The new leisure centre in Bridlington is so good that you won't wait for a rainy day to enjoy its facilities that include climbing walls, a fun splash pool with two slides, and a health suite with a jacuzzi, sauna and a steam room. Other local attractions include Bridlington's Old Town (the filmset for Dad's Army movie) with a good choice of pubs and shops, Flamborough Lighthouse and Sewerby Hall (complimentary passes for 2 adults and 3 children are provided by the owner for access to the grounds at Sewerby Hall).

Day trips from Bridlington can include sightseeing and shopping in the historic city of York, around 40 miles and just over an hour's drive from Rest Ashore; or enjoy some adventure in Dalby Forest (an hour by car) with its tree top adventures and tracks and trails for walkers and mountain bikers. Downton Abbey fans will love a tour of Castle Howard, while the kids will love a trip up the coast to the huge seaside resort of Scarborough or popular Whitby. Cycling is a joy whether you follow coastal roads or head inland through the countryside. The North York Moors National Park, Howardian Hills and North Riding Forest Park are all under an hour's drive, so there's a good variety of mountain bike trails as well. Rest Ashore has secure bicycle storage, and bike hire is available locally.
