About this property

A lovely stone-built single storey cottage set in the grounds of a private equestrian property, attached to the owner's farmhouse in a tranquil location with stunning views of the surrounding hills and countryside. Located within the grounds of the owner's home and equestrian facility, Baywood Cottage is perfect as a peaceful retreat for couples wanting to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Dales. The open-plan lounge-diner is beautifully decorated with a neutral colour scheme, furnished with comfortable sofas and a woodburner for enjoying cosy nights in. This room boasts glorious views of the Ickornshaw Beck valley and to the hills beyond. Further down the hall is a spacious fully appointed kitchen offering all the amenities you will need for cooking up a fantastic meal. The bedroom has a comfortable super king-size bed and has glorious views of the surrounding hills. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower, ideal for recuperating after a strenuous day exploring the Dales or the Forest of Trawden. Outside the property is a furnished gravel garden offering beautiful views of the surrounding hills, and the owner's ponies can be seen grazing in the nearby fields.Kick back and relax here with a glass of wine, enjoying the remainder of the evening sun. Baywood Cottage is perfect for keen walkers, with easy access to lots of footpaths, and only a 30 minute walk from the Pennine Way. Skipton is just a short drive away and has many independent shops, cafes and restaurants, as well as a lively market and a castle, making it an ideal day out. Baywood Cottage is the perfect place for a relaxing break at any time of the year.

The village of Cowling sits in the Pennine Hills, just seven miles from the market town of Skipton. A thriving village, built along a main high street with stone-built, terraced houses set alongside the mills of a bygone age. The nearby Quaker village of Lothersdale was, at one time, home to Charlotte Bronte who modelled Gateshead Hall in Jane Eyre on Stone Gappe House where she was governess. Today many visitors passing through the village are walkers, on their way along the Pennine Way on the stretch from Cowling to Gargrave. There's the large retail outlet of Boundary Mills, just six miles away, a must for lovers of shoping, and Skipton, known as 'The Gateway to the Dales' is nearby. Skipton is a lovely old market town with much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street.

It offers everything you could want for a cottage holiday and there is a wide range of things to do in the area. The owners could not be more helpful. Very highly recommended.

Everything was to the standard described, from the comfortable bed with its pristine linen and spacious bathroom, well equipped kitchen and so many generous thoughtful surprises. From fresh eggs , milk and confectionery to the heating having warmed the place for us. The weather wasn’t the best but it didn’t deter us from visiting the surrounding market towns. Would we recommend most certainly and we hope to return in the future. Great views , great job. Thanks
