The property is part of a Grade II listed building, Maunby Hall, it has high ceilings on the first floor, plenty of space and dates back as far as the 1700s. The large open plan kitchen/dining room is definitely the social hub of the house. There is a large table, perfect for playing games with the family and a TV, mixed with a grand old Aga to keep the room warm, but don’t worry as there is a conventional oven and hob too. There is even a table football in one of the rooms just off the kitchen area, and the kitchen is linked to the large conservatory which is perfect in the summer for enjoying a drink whilst watching the sun go down, and the children play in the large, natural grounds. There is also a tennis court with carpet style surface - used once every couple of weeks by other local people.
The living room enjoys a wood burner along with an endless supply of wood and it has a large TV and even a piano. The bedrooms are all on the first floor and have high ceilings and some views of the open countryside. There is a games cupboard full of games and even a Laser Tag set for indoor and outdoor fun. The owners who lived here had so much fun in this house, and that’s how they want their guests to feel, that The Courthouse is a relaxing home from home in stunning surroundings. There are even countryside walks leading directly from the garden out into the countryside if you are feeling energetic.
The village of Maunby is in a perfect spot for getting out and about. The Courthouse is ideally located between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks. So whether it’s taking in all the natural beauty of the area on foot, flying through the countryside on the North York Moors Railway or the Wensleydale Railway, or cycling on one of the many recognised cycling routes there is so much to see and do. Although Maunby is a rural village, both the A19 and the A1 are just a few miles either east or west, making access to so many places of interest accessible. Within less than an hour’s drive you will find the market towns of Northallerton and Thirsk, the walled city of York with its Viking Centre and National Railway Museum and Lightwater Valley, Fountains Abbey, Jervaulx Abbey and Rievaulx Abbey to name just a few of the exciting attractions on a packed list of things to do. Flamingo Land Theme Park, Castle Howard, and the seaside towns of Redcar and Saltburn, are within an hour’s drive, offering great days out for all the family. There are also a number of race courses in the area such as Catterick and Thirsk, as well as many golf courses, outdoor motor sport activities or why not visit one of the many abbeys that surround the area. Shop and restaurant 7 miles, pub serving food 2 miles.
No cats allowed. There are 2 ponds in the grounds.
