Please note: The property has a natural water supply.. Longdale Cottage is believed to be a former gamekeepers cottage on the shooting estate of William Grenfell 1st Baron Desborough. The cottage is situated in beautiful Raydale, a secluded and unspoilt sidedale off Wensleydale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is surrounded by traditional farming country and ringed by high fells. There is also fly and coarse fishing available nearby (licence can be purchased in Hawes). Hawes, with its various shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways, is just 6 miles away, and the village of Bainbridge is just over 4 miles.

In the distance the dramatic peak of Addleborough can be seen and Semerwater, with its beach for swimming off, as well as fishing and canoeing, is is 2½ miles. It is handy for many of the areas famous attractions, including the bustling little market town of Hawes, Semerwater and the pretty villages of Bainbridge and Askrigg, with its pub which was used as the local in the James Herriott series All Creatures Great & Small. Raydale is a haven for wildlife, hares and deer are often sighted in the surrounding fields at dawn and dusk, along with a wide variety of upland bird life including grouse, partridge, curlew and plovers.

Initial fuel for woodburner included, thereafter available locally at cost. Up to two dogs only, to be kept on leads due to surrounding livestock. Natural water from spring. There are 3 steps in the garden but there is alternative flat access. Honesty box for telephone.
