The market town of Leyburn, known as the ‘Gateway to

Wensleydale’ has a weekly market on a Friday, along with a great

selection of independent tearooms, pubs and shops. The walking

here is excellent, with many walks on the doorstep. The

Wensleydale Railway has a station in Leyburn with regular services between Redmire and Leeming Bar if you fancy a step back in time

on a heritage Diesel or Steam train.

Only nine miles away is the market town of Richmond with its

cobbled, narrow streets, a weekly and monthly farmers’ market

where you can source local goods, plus wonderful architecture and

the castle walls to explore.

Within reach are many attractions and places to visit, including

Constable Burton Hall Gardens, The Forbidden Corner, Thorp

Perrow Arboretum, the ruins of Castle Bolton and the mediaeval

town of Middleham, with its Norman Castle.

Also in the area are Aysgarth Falls, the Nidderdale Area of

Outstanding Natural Beauty and the stunning Yorkshire Dales

National Park, with pretty villages to visit and of course an

abundance of walks and cycle routes.
