The popular town of Staindrop is just 6 miles away, where hundreds of deer roam free in their natural habitat of Raby Castle and its grounds. The town is also popular for its tea shops, cafes and small shops selling local produce. The Georgian market town of Richmond, 10 miles, offers many top class restaurants, pubs and tea shops that are perfect for a spot of lunch, afternoon tea or a lazy supper. This beautiful and historic town is settled high above the River Swale, and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area and the chance to browse the weekly market and monthly farmers market, which provide ample chance to enjoy some local produce and crafts.

Visit Barnard Castle and the famous Bowes Museum. Other popular destinations within a 30-minute drive include Darlington, Northallerton, Leyburn, Reeth and Bedale. Tom’s Cottage is the perfect base from which to explore the neighbouring counties too.
