Filey 3 miles. This lovely, end-terrace cottage is situated on The Bay, a prestigious holiday village situated 3 miles from the traditional seaside town of Filey. A glorious Blue Flag sandy beach is just a short, enjoyable walk away, providing 5 miles of golden sands to play on, build sandcastles on and to paddle in the sea. Seadrift is a welcoming home-away-from-home, perfect for couples and families wishing to enjoy the Yorkshire coast and extensive on-site facilities. The comfortable interior has a contemporary, well-equipped kitchen, a downstairs toilet, and a light and airy lounge/dining room. Cosy evenings can be spent snuggling up on the sumptuous leather sofa by the bay windows. The TV and DVD player stand on a cabinet containing local information, equipment instructions and family games. French doors by the dining area can be opened up to the rear patio, which is an ideal spot to relax with a coffee and watch the world go by. Upstairs are two peaceful bedrooms, promising a good night’s sleep. The attractive double bedroom has fitted wardrobes and an additional TV, whereas the second bedroom has twin beds. There is a family bathroom with over-bath shower. Stepping outside the cottage you are greeted by the quaint ‘fishing village’ style houses, set in communal gardens, with meadowland and a lake nearby. Seadrift is in a quiet location, but benefits from the convenience of being close to the amenities offered by The Bay, such as the Italian Restaurant, pub and pharmacy (which also sells basic groceries such as milk and bread). Also close at hand are the heated indoor swimming pool, children’s pool, steam room, sauna and gym (which are free to use for guests at Seadrift using the leisure pass provided.) Other facilities are available at The Bay, for an extra charge, paid locally, including beauty rooms, fitness classes, tennis, archery, scuba diving lessons, fishing and bike hire. If you can tear yourself away from The Bay holiday village, it is a lovely walk along the beach (tides permitting), to Filey, with its old world charm, where there are quirky shops, places to eat, the promenade, and terraces to sit with views of the sea and the bright flowers in the ornamental gardens. To the North lies Filey Brigg- why not try a bit of rock pooling here? Further afield is the busier town of Scarborough where you can embrace more family fun such as the Alpamare Waterpark. To the south, Bempton RSPB nature reserve is marvellous for bird lovers, with nesting seabirds, including Puffins, on the chalk cliffs. Flamborough Head boasts high cliffs with exhilarating walks, and boat trips, leading round to the resort of Bridlington.
The Bay near Filey is a modern development with an indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna and gym. Other facilities include tennis courts, fishing and a putting green. A coffee shop and pub serving food offer refreshment, and for family fun, the sandy beach is on the doorstep. The Bay makes a great holiday base. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough with more to discover.
