Cross the swing bridge and amble along Church Street with its independent shops, to the 199 steps, which lead you up to the famous Whitby Abbey perched high on the cliff top. Take a bracing walk along the wind swept Cleveland Way, or indulge in a cream tea in one of the many tearooms. With numerous restaurants, pubs and cafes, there is choice for everyone. Well worth a visit is the Captain Cook's Museum in Grape Lane and pretty Pannett Park, while in an evening, maybe a ghost walk might be top of the agenda!
