The pretty market town of Pocklington is within walking (1 mile down a private road or by footpath) and here you will find a plethora of independent shops, cafés, delis and restaurants. For those looking to enjoy the surrounding countryside there are miles of public footpaths and cycle routes including the famous Wolds Way. The Pocklington Canal also offers excellent birdwatching opportunities. A little further afield is the historic city of York and up market town of Beverley, you can spend a day at the races in both cities! The stately homes of Castle Howard, Sledmere House and Burnby Hall, home to the national collection of water lilies are also within a short drive. The east coast towns of Hornsea, Bridlington and Filey are also within easy reach.
