The historic village has a shop and post office, and the neighbouring village of Kilconquhar is further down the lane with a local inn.
Just 5 minutes’ drive is the attractive seaside village of Elie, with sandy beaches, water sports and quality places to eat, a great place to spend time. You can join the Fife Coastal Path here for miles of superb coastal walks to old fishing villages, secluded coves and rugged cliffs. A walk to St Monans is particularly interesting and winds along the shore, passing ancient ruins including The Lady Tower built in the 1700’s for Lady Janet to change before going to swim, so if you want to follow her example don’t forget your costume. There are superb view over the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and the Pentland Hills, and down to the Isle of May on a clear day. St Monans has a small picturesque harbour and good places to eat. You can also buy fresh sea food if fish is on the menu that day.
If you enjoy a game of golf on your holiday, Fife is just bursting with courses to play on, and the local course at Charleton has 18 holes and welcomes visitors. The estate also offers horse riding. Ideal for exploring further afield, places include Kingsbarns Whisky Distillery and the enchanting town of St Andrews, with its magnificent ancient monuments, excellent places to eat, lots of interesting places to shop, visitor attractions and championship golf courses. After a day exploring, Sandyfield Cottage is a lovely place to return to and relax, enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the small private garden or curl up with a book in the cosy living room. Beach 2¾ miles. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
