About this property

Ballachulish 1 mile. This cute little glamping pod lies close to the village of Ballachulish, set amidst some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery in Scotland. Presented in an open-plan studio layout, Tigh Na Mara is a romantic dwelling to return to following a day of exploring Glencoe. Enter the pod via your own private decking and step into the open-plan living space, equipped with all the essentials for a short break, including an oven and hob, microwave and fridge, so you can whip up something tasty when you’re not eating out. Sit together at the plush sofa whilst catching up on your favourite shows, before washing away the day in the shower room and climbing into bed. Alternatively, take the evening outside to your private decking where you can enjoy a favourite drink and ponder on where next to explore. From the door, you can visit the Glencoe Folk Museum, housed in an 18th-century heather-thatched croft cottage, it’s a great opportunity to uncover the history and culture of the area. Those avid walkers can boost their steps during an adventure through the Glencoe Nature Reserve, crossing over dramatic mountains and deep lochs, or get close to nature on a guided Land Rover Safari. Ballachulish itself is home to a convenience store and a casual pub, The Laroch Restaurant and Bar, serving an ample menu of refined comfort fare and housemade desserts. Take a westward drive along the famous road to Isle and visit Glenfinnan where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard to rally the clans where you’ll find the Glenfinnan viaduct, famously captured in the Harry Potter films. Head to the Woodlands Activity Centre in Glencoe, providing a range of activities including Segway, e-bike, archery, laser-clay and whisky tasting, there is sure to be something for everybody! Tigh Na Mara is a lovely cottage for uncovering the scenic splendour of Glencoe, any time of year.

The village of Ballachulish is immersed by some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery in Scotland, making it an ideal base for exploring the rugged landscapes of Glencoe. The village was once regarded as the slate capital of Scotland, and many of the disused quarries can be found nearby. Today, the village has taken on a new reputation, serving as an idyllic holiday destination which can be enjoyed throughout the year. Within the surrounding area there is a plethora of fantastic activities, including walking, mountain biking, kayaking, fishing, golf and skiing.
