Set in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park in an elevated position on a small working farm, Wester Laggan Cottage enjoys superb views across the Strathspey valley to the majestic Cairngorm mountain range. This lovely, detached, traditional old stone cottage still maintains many of its original features and makes a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the Highlands. Take a trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway and enjoy a scenic ride in the style of a bygone era, or follow the Strathspey Whisky Trail and visit some of the world’s most famous malt whisky distilleries for ’a wee dram’! Day trips to Balmoral Castle in Royal Deeside, Urqhuart Castle on Loch Ness and dolphin watching at Chanonry Point on the Moray Coast are also popular for days out. The area is renowned for its excellent climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, bird watching, skiing and hiking trails. Wildlife is abundant with red squirrels, capercaillie, osprey and golden eagles often spotted. There are popular and challenging golf courses, fly fishing on the River Spey, or for the younger family members, visit Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig, the Highland Folk Museum, TreeZone and Landmark Forest Adventure Park. The attractive village of Dulnain Bridge has a restaurant and pub, whilst Grantown-on-Spey, 3 miles away offers a variety of shops, cafés, restaurants and bars. Inverness, the Highland capital, is less than an hour’s drive and Aviemore is only 11 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub 4 miles and restaurant ½ mile.
