Perth Museum & Art Gallery to unveil the past, the 16th century The Black Watch Castle & Museum and the sprawling Kinnoull Hill Woodland Park. For a special escape to the Scottish Highlands, stay at Brackenhill. Note: This property can be booked with Ref: 1027195, together sleeping 12 guests.

Crieff, a famous tourist destination between Perth and Crianlarich, is located on the geological fault line where the Lowlands meet the Highlands. Crieff expanded due to its position and as a meeting place for the cattle business to fulfil the demands of an increasing Lowlands population between the 16th and 18th centuries, when it was a centre for cattle drovers. Crieff became a 'border town' as a result of the nature of these meetings or trysts, and its reputation for hanging punishment extended throughout Europe, with the remnants of the gallows on display at Perth Museum. In 1716, Highlanders returning demoralised from the Battle of Sheriffmuir burned down most of Crieff, and the current town layout was conceived by James Drummond, 3rd Duke of Perth in 1731.
