The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs along this coastline and is very popular with walkers. Turnberry is home to the world famous Turnberry Resort and Golf Course attracting enthusiasts from all over the world and the resort is also home to a beautiful espa Spa. Walk out to the lighthouse, to the ruins of Turnberry Castle, thought to be the birthplace of Robert the Bruce.

The charming village of Maidens with its quaint harbour is nearby and from here you can walk along the beach up into the beautiful Culzean Castle estate with stunning clifftop views over the sea to Arran and Ailsa Craig. A tour around Culzean Castle, designed by Robert Adams and truly one of his masterpieces, is one not to be missed with its dramatic clifftop location, as is a trip to the 18th century Dumfries House, part of the Princes Foundation and home to an unrivalled collection of Chippendale furniture. The 2000 acre estate has been beautifully designed with stunning walks throughout the grounds. Take a boat trip from Girvan out to Ailsa Craig to see the nesting birds or a fishing trip. The town also has a leisure centre with swimming pool. The pretty seaside towns of Ayr, Prestwick and Troon are only a short drive away and there are very good rail links for a trip to the cosmopolitan city of Glasgow. The islands of Cumbrae and Arran are easily reached for a day out while day trips to Ireland can be taken from Cairnryan. Beach 1 mile.
