Daliburgh 3.3 miles. Nestling on the coast of South Boisdale on South Uist, is this charming cottage, Coastal View Cottage. Perfect for families looking for an authentic Scottish beach holiday, Coastal View Cottage offers well-presented accommodation in delightful, enclosed gardens. Walking in, the welcoming sitting room displays an array of sumptuous sofas and cushions proving that warmth and comfort have been the priority when designing the room. A feature woodburning stove completes the space and is the perfect area to gather with the family and spend some quality time together in a warm and welcoming environment. The contemporary kitchen is a place where you can rustle up whatever is needed for a delicious meal for the whole family before stepping into the elegant dining area where the expansive dining table will comfortably sit the whole of your party and you can enjoy long, relaxed meals and even throw open the French doors to let in the fresh Hebridean air and soak up those wonderful views. If the weather allows then Coastal View Cottage is all set up for alfresco living from the extensive lawned gardens, ideal for the children to run around to the attractive patio area complete with furniture and barbecue, perfect for warm, summer evenings spent outdoors and making the most of the long days. All that fresh air can be tiring so when bedtime calls take your pick from one of the three gorgeous bedrooms, all finished to a high standard and offering wonderful coastal views. After a hard day of holidaying there is nowhere better to enjoy a long soak in a hot bath than here in the feature volcanic stone bath. Everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay has been thought of at Coastal View Cottage. If you want to take some time off from cooking (well you are on holiday after all) then there is a great choice of delightful eateries and places to drink within a short drive of the cottage including Polochar Inn, West Kilbride Cafe and Am Politician Pub, and the delightful port town of Lochboisdale is only a short drive away and here you can find a small selection of shops and the opportunity to go fishing, sailing and enjoy some beautiful scenic walks. The infamous Askernish Golf Course is slightly further afield and Lochmaddy is just under an hour’s drive from where you can catch a ferry to Skye, a great day trip from the island or cross the stunning causeway and head over to Eriskay Beach. Whether you are looking for a holiday packed with high-adrenaline activities or something a little more relaxing and sedate, let Coastal View Cottage welcome you. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy, or Oban to Lochboisdale.
Daliburgh is a town on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides and is known for being a crofting town. There is a memorial here to commemorate the life and works of Donald Allan MacDonald, a Gaelic poet who lived in Daliburgh in the mid 20th century. It is a great base from which to explore a fantastic selection of activities from fishing and walking to diving and birdwatching. The nearby Askernish Golf Course is always popular and was originally designed by ‘Old’ Tom Morris and is popular with golfers keen to test themselves on this challenging course. Dining options include fish and chips from the Burnside Chip Shop or for something a little more fancy dine in at the Borrodale Hotel. While you are in Daliburgh you can stock up on supplies at the supermarket and there is also a number of other shops including gifts shops. A short distance from Daliburgh is the fascinating Kildonan Museum and the birthplace of Flora MacDonald as well as a host of fabulous beaches just waiting to be discovered.
