We were also welcomed with a bottle of wine and cake. Unfortunately we didn’t have the best weather but that didn’t so us, we still got out and about. Plenty to do around and not to far to travel. Our little doggie Zara also enjoyed her stay. Want to finish of by saying the owners are lovely they couldn’t help you enough if you needed it. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful place. Will definitely be back but in less windier weather. Many thanks

It was meant to be a special occasion to celebrate my partners 40th Birthday. As you will understand as you read on, we were disgusted and had to cut short our holiday. Upon entering the property it appeared clean. Unfortunately, on closer inspection we found it to be full of dust and EXTREMELY unclean. The plastic flowers were particularly covered. This brought on an bad allergic reaction for my partner. She had to double up on anti allergy medication. We sat in the lounge area and found all the cushions were also covered in dust and stained. They had to be removed just so we could watch the TV in the evening. The mat on the floor smelt particularly bad and needs to be cleaned thoroughly. When we went up to bed there are lots of extra blankets for guests to use. These also had to be removed so we could sleep. They need properly cleaning or replaced! Who knows when this was last done?! There was dust around the ornaments and these also had hadn't been cleaned properly. It was so bad that we had to move them all into the other bedroom. There was also a yellow stain on the blanket that was draping the sofa in the lounge. That night neither of us slept well. We paid £844 to stay in this property & they put a £200 open coil mattress in it! It was awful and neither of us had a good night's sleep since we got there! Surely paying that amount of money for a SYKES property you would at least expect to be able to sleep. The main bathroom smelt strongly of a male scent, which was still there as we left. It makes me question the cleanliness in there. There were more plastic dust collectors in the courner of that room. The shower head also fell down every time you shower which was annoying each day. There were used towels in the white wicker basket in the downstairs shower room which were prior to our stay. Who knows how long it had been there?! I find this extremely unacceptable and unhygienic. It also asks questions as to when the last time it was cleaned. On Tuesday afternoon, we were settingly down for lunch, when a man appeared in the back garden! He said through the window that he was there to clean the patio window. He didn't knock on the front door to let us know or ask if it was OK! We felt exposed and unsure of our safety. We booked this property because of its "secure" garden for our dog. If he had been out in the garden and escaped I can't bear to think of the consequences. We came to the conclusion we had had enough and decided to leave a day early. What a complete waste of money. The day we decided to leave was the most horrifying. As requested by the owner, I stripped the bed. To my horror I discovered what we had been sleeping in. The duvet was very badly stained and had lots of small hairs all over it. Then I found the mattress itself was stained with urine. We had been sleeping on a urine stained mattress. This left us feeling physically sick and i find this extremely unacceptable. The pillows were also badly stained. We voiced our complaint to the owners and to sykes; the response was they will take more care dusting and offered us a free night stay. I find this an insult and completely out of order. Why in the world would we want to stay again?! WE WERE SLEEPING ON A URINE STAINED MATTRESS!!!!!

When we arrived there was a lovely little welcome gift of a bottle of wine and cookies. The house was beautifully done, so homely and welcoming. It had everything you needed! Our main priorities when looking for where we would stay was that it was dog friendly and had an enclosed garden, it ticked all our boxes. We had the best time even if the weather was bad, and a lot of that was having a nice base to come back to after particularly rainy dog walking! Ian popped by one evening to check we were ok and if we needed anything which was a really nice touch. We loved our stay thank you, we’d give more than 5 stars if we could!!
