About this property

A pretty, traditional semi-detached cottage, tucked away in a quiet area on the edge of the busy village of Llanon, with sea views from the property and the beach just a short walk away along local footpaths. The cottage is a perfect base for families or friends looking to walk the Coastal Path of Wales, enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside, yet remaining close to lively towns and villages. There are two comfortable bedrooms on a split-level ground floor, with a family shower room. There is a compact well-equipped kitchen with distant sea views, and a sitting room with dining area with an open fire to curl up in front of on cooler evenings and watch TV, making this an all-year-round getaway. Outside, you can sit in the pretty garden with a raised decked area looking across fields to the sea beyond and plan a day’s exploring of the fabulous coastline. Alternatively you may just wish to while away the hours, enjoy the view and perhaps mosey down to the beach to watch what are arguably some of the most breathtaking sunsets you will see, as the sun dips below the horizon. The stunning coastline of Cardigan Bay stretches in both directions from the village of Llanon linked with the Wales Coast Path and harbourside towns such as Aberaeron, five miles away and New Quay, 12 miles, with a selections of eateries, cafes and ice-cream parlours, just a short drive. Traditional seaside villages pepper the coastline such as Llangrannog and Tresaith both within a 20 mile drive. The area offers a variety of outdoor activities such as wildlife spotting boat trips from New Quay, which gives you the chance of sighting the bay’s famous dolphins, river and sea fishing, golf and maybe spend an afternoon crab fishing off the harbour in Aberaron. Why not take a trip to Nant yr Arian to watch the majestic daily spectacle of the Red Kites being fed, a great place to burn off some energy with its mountain bike and walking trails, then back for a Welsh Cake in the coffee shop? Slightly further afield, to the north you will find the Victorian beach resort of Aberystwyth with its sweeping seafront promenade, funicular railway and little steam railway that will take you up to Devil’s Bridge, a beauty spot with cascading waterfalls. The area has a few of Wales’ National Trust properties with the working farm at Llanerchaeron or the sandy beaches and woodland walk of Penbryn, both being within a short drive. A delightful cottage, perfectly situated for families and friends to enjoy the stunning coast and surrounding areas.

Llanon is a lovely village and is reputably the birthplace of the mother of St David, the patron saint of Wales. The village is a great base and is within easy reach of both the regency town of Aberaeron and the University town of Aberystwyth. Visitors to this area will find a local pub and shop, a nearby pebbly beach and Cardigan Bay, with the Wales Coast Path stretching in both directions.
