Glyndyfrdwy is situated in the Dee Valley, just 4.4 miles from the town of Llangollen. Situated close to the foothills of the Berwyn Mountains, the village is renowned as the home of Owain Glyndwr where, in 1400, he proclaimed himself Prince of Wales. Today you can still see Owain's Mount - the eroded remains of a 12th century castle motte. Walking is available with the Offa's Dyke Pathway nearby, whilst canoeing on the River Dee is on offer for those who enjoy watersports. The nearby town of Llangollen offers a range of shops, pubs and eateries and is internationally famous for its annual Musical Eisteddfod.

Great location for walking without having to drive. We did five brilliant all-day walks from the cottage door. The outdoor seating area looks out on to the river and we were visited by different varieties of birds at dusk. We will definitely come again.

Nearby Snowdonia National Park (within a hour drive). There's is enough space in the house to stay with four adults. We were with the two of us. When we arrived it seems that the cleaner had to leave the house in a hurry. All the cleaning-materials were in the livingroom (??). We had a few problems with internet and heating the first day. It was impossible to reach the owner by phone. And she even didn't react on my textmessage. When I phoned the other number of a man "who knows almost everything of the house". He said he only was a keyholder. The heatingsystem (with a Nest thermostat) turned almost every hour back to a low temperature, which made it less comfortable in the evenings. The kitchen was complete with all you need for a longer stay with preparting your own food. We finally found the glasworks in the smaller livingroom. The fact that we were unable to open the frontdoor, wasn't a problem for us. We only used the backdoor. ;)

We had difficulty with the mortise lock on the front door, only being able to unlock it from the outside. The use of the z-bed, was really useful - thank you.
