The village Llandygai was developed by Baron Penrhyn ‘1st’ (1800-1886) as a ‘model village’ for his estate workers.It lies immediately outside of the walls of Penrhyn Castle.‘Tre Felin’ translates in english to ‘three mills’. Weathered Stone Cottage, a grade II listed building was originally built for the workers of the saw mill.The road homes a row of 8 stone cottages.Curiously each cottage is positioned backwards with the back of the house facing the road, while the pretty front of the house faces the railway line which runs behind the trees on the hill beyond the long gardens.Such positioning enhances the peaceful aesthetic’s without being overlooked in the garden.
