About this property

Located at the heart of the quaint, semi-rural village of Penmachno, Conwy, lies the charming, one-bedroom holiday home of Merrion Cottage. Boasting a tastefully-presented, rustic interior complete with exposed stonework and a spiral staircase, as well as superb positioning to nearby amenities, this lovely, white-washed cottage welcomes a couple for a romantic escape within the magnificent setting of the Eryri National Park. Step into your delightful new home-from-home, and be charmed by the well-presented, open-plan living space, which comprises a well-equipped kitchen where you and your loved one can rustle up romantic dinners for two; a dining area complete with dining table for two where you can savour your meals; and a sitting area featuring a Smart TV and a woodburning stove where you can retreat to in the evenings when you're ready to relax. In the evenings, be sure to refresh with a rejuvenating shower or a long, hot bath on your way to settle down for a well-deserved rest in the inviting double bedroom. After you've sipped your morning tea or coffee out in the rear garden, slip your shoes on and head out to explore what your surroundings have to offer. In the village of Penmachno, you will find the Londis & Outreach PO where you can stock up on essentials, whilst The Eagles Bunkhouse serves up traditional pub fare for those looking to fuel up before embarking on a day full of fun and activity. Your trip to the region would be incomplete without spending time visiting the many sights and wonders of the Eryri National Park, including the beautiful rushing waters of Cwmorthin Waterfall, the historic landmark of Gelert's Grave, or the awe-inspiring spot of the Llanfair Slate Caverns. For an unforgettable escape to North Wales, look no further than Merrion Cottage.

Only 4 miles separate the little, tranquil village of Penmachno from the well-known town of Betws-y-Coed, which is located in the lovely Machno Valley. While Betws-y-Coed town has a decent selection of shops, bars, and cafes, the surrounding area, which is surrounded by forests, majestic mountains, and gushing rivers, is a refuge for walkers, birdwatchers, mountain bikers, and climbers. The River Conwy joins its three tributaries at this location, resulting in a variety of cascading waterfalls, river pools, and historic bridges throughout the countryside. The most well-known of these is the magnificent waterfall at Swallow Falls, which is located where the River Llugwy meets with a breathtaking chasm, creating a sight not to be missed! In the Machno Valley, the stunning Conwy Falls are also well worth a visit. This stunning location has a lot to offer all year round with easy access to North Wales' Heritage Coastlines and all of Snowdonia to explore.

There was two small fan heaters that we had to use which without them it would have been unbearable to be honest. No cupboard to put our weeks groceries in, so the worktop was the only place to put them, and there’s no parking, don’t park on the church car park as you will get a notice asking for money! We stay at many cottages each year and this is the first time we have felt let down by what we consider important issues.

We loved the log burner, it really does add a special touch to the cold evenings. The dishwasher was super handy, alongside the great location. Parking is easily found in the church car park, along with the pub and local corner shop within less than a minute from the property. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a well-presented and clean home to stay in.

Couldn't get the hang of the hob though!
