What our customers say about their holidays

  • Roisin - Verified booking

We could not fault 3 Coastguard Station at all.

It is a welcoming homely property that had every amenity required. It has been a thoughtfully restored historic building that just feels fab and truly cared for by the owners. The location of the house could not be more perfect, we loved the convenience of ditching the car and being able to walk to local restaurants and the pub is just a few doors down! We adore the beach so having it literally on your doorstep is both practically and visually amazing, great for our sea dips too! The window seat in the cottage is my favourite spot, the beach and sea view was simply stunning. We have been regular visitors to Rathmullan for 14 years and when our usual holiday home was sold last year we were so sad because we didn’t think we would find another to match it. Lucky for us we feel we hit the jackpot with 3 Coastguard Station and look forward to returning again soon. Separately, we would like to commend the property owner on being responsive to our queries before and during our stay. It took Sykes 2 days to respond to our initial query and by that time we had already arrived at the property. They then took another 2 days to fully answer by which time we had checked out of the property. We are lodging a separate complaint around Sykes customer services which should absolutely have no reflection on the property or owners. We paid a high rate for the property via Sykes and would expect they have high standards of customer service to match, sadly that was not our experience. It was our first time using Sykes and we would be reluctant to use them again in the future. It would be such a shame if Sykes shoddy customer service damaged business for the property, the owner's don’t deserve that because the property is excellent.

The Glen is a real holiday for any family.

The property is secluded yet within easy reach of Carndonagh Town with every type of shop or service needed. The house itself, wow! We were blown away! The best quality appliances, full built in furniture throughout. Everything one would need is included in the package right down to the electric multi cooker. The rooms are all very spacious. 3 showers and a jacuzzi bath. The beds were very comfortable and had extra blankets and pillows. 7 beds in total, king-size, double and 3 single beds, one with a pullout mattress for an extra guest. The owner, Ryan, is obviously understanding of each individuals needs and has provided a luxury spacious, warm home to suit everyone and anyone. I had a severely learning disabled adult, two elderly and infirm parents and an adult with a serious medical condition. Everyone felt at home and everyone's needs were met. The ramp at the back door was a godsend. Ryan has maintained this home to the highest standard. He has an eye for detail and provides fixtures, fittings and accessories of very high quality. No expense spared. As a host, he was brilliant. Rowing up in the area, he is knowledgable and can guide you to the best places to visit, to dine at or to go for a lively morning walk. Responding immediately to any messages I sent, even on Christmas day. He is attentive and kind, taken care of every detail, honestly, this home definitely made Christmas break away one to remember; it was truly the best Christmas break our family has had for many years. I don't get many breaks away but I will be booking a break away to the Glen in 2025.

Whispering Willows is ideally placed for exploring both Northern Donegal and across Lough Foyle into Northern Ireland.

Unfortunately for us the Foyle Ferry was not operating which does put on additional time reaching attractions such as the Giant's Causeway. There are some fantastic places to visit closer at hand all of which were very well detailed in the guest book. The cottage is very well equipped with an abundance of coffee/tea and other essentials. Fiona the owner, although we did not meet was very easily contacted and readily available to offer help/advice. The weather whilst we were there was not the best with rain and strong winds, the wind especially seemed to draw the heat out of the cottage such that the back boiler in the fire did not seem to heat the radiators. There is however a secondary oil fired system which does require the insertion of 1 euro coins, the 2 euro facility does not work. When this was loaded the cottage heated up very quickly. A normal metered system with readings and payment/unit may be easier for people. 1 euros seemed to be hard to get for some reason. Heating apart ( which Fiona was made aware of), the cottage was fantastic and we would most certainly try to re-visit in the summer to make the most of the fantastic beaches close at hand.

    We had a FANTASTIC time.

Everything you need was in the property. It was clean and comfortable. A shame that the wood burned was out of order but the central heating worked very well. I have mobility issues, however, it was very easy to get around with my "walker" and the walk-in showers were excellent for my needs. Pub very close that serves excellent food with very friendly locals; although I couldn't get my wheelchair up the path leading back to the property, as it isn't a smooth road but we just drove down...not a big deal. We explored The Wild Atlantic way and on the days that we didn't want to venture out; just sitting looking out to that AMAZING view was enough; didn't need to go out. We went to nearby towns; took a taxi to Falcarragh one day to explore, very easy to book a taxi; we used Woods. Also took an overnight to Donegal town, which was jumping. Took a day trip to Downings where my grandfather came from, stunning. I honestly had to fight back tears when we were leaving. What a time we had. Little Buddy, the dog next door, just made it complete. Thanks SO much, we had an AWESOME time. Michelle and Chris
