About this property

Ashover 2 miles. Tucked away amidst the rolling Derbyshire fields on the outskirts of Alton near Ashover is Moor Farm Cottage. This delightful cottage has been thoughtfully renovated blending characterful beams with contemporary appliances and stylish decor, it also benefits from a spacious, open-plan living space, two beautifully-appointed bedrooms, a gym and a wonderful patio with far-reaching countryside views, hot tub and barbecue; the perfect choice for couples, small families or friends looking to explore Derbyshire. After a day full of exploration, cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and head straight into the open-plan living space where you can unwind in front of the Smart TV on either of the plush sofas. From here you can watch on as the designated chef of the group rustles up a hearty meal in the fully-equipped kitchen, sample their culinary creations at the dining table or on warmer evenings indulge in an alfresco affair by firing up the barbecue. While away evenings with a glass of wine in hand while you admire the breath-taking views across the countryside before indulging in a soothing soak in the hot tub; the perfect place to marvel at the sun set or the stars as they fill the sky. When the evening draws to a close, head back inside to wash off the day’s adventures in the shower room before sloping off to sleep in either the super-king-size or twin/super-king-size (zip/link) bedrooms. If you can tear yourself away from this delightful dwelling, venture into the nearby village of Ashover, with a choice of three local pubs serving real ales, including 5 times Camra pub of the year winner The Old Poet’s Corner. Ashover is also a previous winner of the Calor Gas Village of the Year award and is one of the prettiest villages in Derbyshire. Ashover has a fascinating 15th century church, many historic buildings and stunning surrounding countryside. Indulge in a hearty breakfast or quick bite to eat in the Stamp Coffee Shop or sample some tasty treats from Anna’s tuck shop. Ashover also has a butchers/grocery store and a post office. Also nearby is the village of Kelstedge where you can pick up essentials at the local farm shop or enjoy a well-earned break from the kitchen with food at The Kelstedge Inn. A must see is the nearby spa village of Matlock Bath; renowned as a seaside resort nowhere near the sea, this unique place sports old-timey fish and chip shops, ice cream parlours, candy floss parlours, glitzy arcades and souvenir boutiques all alongside the River Derwent. The magnificent Chatworth House is a short drive from Moor Farm and this renowned stately home, and its stunning gardens should not be missed. Chatsworth has been used as a location set for numerous films, television, and music videos, as well as hosting an annual Country Fair and Chatsworth Horse Trials. It also boasts a wonderful farmyard and adventure playground to keep the kids amused. Chesterfield is also within reach where you can find a whole host of other amenities and eateries as well as the Revolution House Museum; continue this historic excursion by visiting the stunning Haddon Hall, the breath-taking Bolsover Castle, or the Elizabethan Hardwick Hall. The Peak District National Park also lies nearby offering an abundance of walking, cycling, and hiking trails with picturesque panoramas over the English Countryside. All this and more awaits at Moor Farm Cottage.

The small, rural village of Ashover is peacefully situated in the Amber Valley, just five miles from Matlock. The village has several good pubs, including the Crispin Inn, renowned as one of the oldest pubs in the Peak District and The Old Poets’ Corner which offers home-brewed Ashover ales. The county town of Matlock, a former spa town, offers a host of fine eating places, good shops and an interesting museum, whilst at the heart of the town, Hall Leys Park provides a lovely setting for a host of recreational activities such as bowls, tennis and boating. Enjoy a thrilling day at Gulliver's Kingdom, with its owl maze, water gardens, nature trails, exhilarating rides and cable car trips over the magnificent Matlock Gorge. ..fabulous hot tub, so peaceful of an evening. Andrew & Lesley met us on arrival & very helpful with what's around the area. Black Swan in Ashover fabulous food. Would definitely recommend Moor Farm Cottage & will be back.

We were welcomed to the property and showed around by Andrew, the welcome pack of chocolates, coffee, tea and fresh flowers were a lovely touch. The local farm breakfast pack of sausages, eggs, bacon, hash brown, mushrooms, tomatoes apple juice, oatcakes, milk ensured the Saturday started off well. We made use of the hot tub on three occasions, despite the wind and rain and it was great. The gym was also used over the weekend and this is a lovely addition to the cottage. Plenty of places locally to eat out and the food was lovely. We ate at the Black Swan in Ashover and The Kelstege Inn. What an amazing property, would thoroughly recommend this to anyone wanting to have a relaxing break away. Thank you Andrew and Lesley
