You can relax on a leisurely cruise on one of the Ullswater Steamers after a day of thrilling outdoor activities, and some of the pubs offer spectacular views of the lake. Those who enjoy hiking the nearby mountains will find a plethora of trails to choose from in this area. The Greenside Mine, a lead mine that has been operating since the 18th century and provides the majority of the village's income, sits on the ridge above the town.
