You don't have to head far before reaching the nearby section of Hadrian's Wall remains at Heddon on the Wall, giving you a taste of the heritage in the area and tempt you to head along the course of the wall and explore some of the many settlement sites and walking routes that come along with it. Visiting nearby towns of Hexham and Corbridge are a must, with their lovely selection of bespoke shops and cafes. Around this area of Northumberland you will stumble across many a farm or local business selling local produce; from ice cream at nearby Vallum Far or Wheelbirks icecream parlour, locally brewed ale at High House Farm to smokery products and fresh meat, vegetables at one of the farm shops.
