About this property

20 Lisburn Street is a beautiful terraced cottage sitting in the original part of Alnwick, Northumberland. The cottage is a stone's throw away from shops, pubs, and Alnwick Castle, and has a bright and contemporary interior with access to a private, historic courtyard; a superb base for families, couples, and friends alike to explore the many sights of Northumberland. Renovated to a high standard, the entrance leads you to a navy blue sitting room with an elegant, cream corner sofa and a wall-mounted Smart TV with subwoofer speakers and Netflix for family move nights. The kitchen/diner is fully equipped for your self-catering holiday and with a rustic wooden table to host evening meals, along with a generous welcome pack. After dinner, relax in your private courtyard with historic stone walls as its backdrop, complete with outdoor seating to reminisce on the day's adventures with a glass of wine in hand. Completing the property are three beautifully appointed king-size bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room and one zip/link for flexibility, along with a tasteful family bathroom with a roll-top, claw-foot bath. Set in the heart of Alnwick, you'll find a range of shops and pubs nearby, including The John Bull Inn around the corner, Lilburns Bar Restaurant, and a Morrisons supermarket. There's plenty to see in the town such as Alnwick Castle, one of the largest UK castles and a must for Harry Potter fans, as well as Alnwick Garden, Alnwick Castle Golf Club, and Alnwick Church along the River Aln. For a day along Northumberland coast AONB, head to Alnmouth and discover the picturesque Alnmouth Beach, Ferryman's Hut, The Old School Gallery, and scenic coastal walks from the village centre. You'll find Dunstanburgh Castle, Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum, and more idyllic beaches such as Longhoughton Beach. 20 Lisburn Street is also a short journey away from Northumberland National Park, an expansive landscape for walking, cycling, and wildlife watching, along with spectacular sights, including Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Forest, and the Cheviot Hills. Rothbury is a lovely market town to stop off on your way, which is also close to the National Trust's Cragside, an impressive country mansion with formal gardens. Make 20 Lisburn Street your holiday home in Northumberland to explore the best of country and coast.

Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland, dominates the town's skyline. The 2002 Castle Gardens feature Europe's largest cascading water feature, an enormous treehouse, a delightful rose garden, and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden. Harry Potter's Hogwarts School was filmed at the castle. The town's narrow streets have changed little since the London-to-Edinburgh stage coach passed through, and the Market Place with its stone cross is still the site of the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick has a variety of shops, pubs, and restaurants, and there are miles of golden beaches, numerous castles, and boat trips to the Farne Islands nearby. A great place to explore Northumberland's Heritage Coast.

The beds were comfy and we loved the soft bed linen. The garden is a lovely sun trap on an afternoon. We could always get parked on the street, which was super. We loved the fire in the lounge, my daughter enjoyed picking a colour each evening. Thank you very much for the lovely treats that you left us, they were very much appreciated and a really nice touch. There was a few things that I wanted to note that future guests might appreciate- the kitchen would benefit from a few extra things- additional oven trays, mixing or serving bowl, more teaspoons, trivet to put hot things on. Perhaps a DVD player in the lounge, I know that's old school now, but we bought some DVDs from one of the charity shops but couldn't watch them. We found the oven hard to use as there was no user instructions and it seemed to either under cook food or cremate it. The front door is really hard to use, my mum has a few health issues so she couldn't open it or close it by herself. Thank you again, we enjoyed our stay very much.

The bed was very comfortable with lovely quality towels. The kitchen was compact but well stocked with crockery and cutlery It was great to have a dishwasher and washing machine to use during our weeks stay. The location was perfect and allowed us to walk into town and there was a great choice of cafes and restaurants near by We had a lovely time staying there and Alnwick is a great place and so dog friendly

It was in a great location minutes walk from the High Street, Alwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens. It had everything we needed incluing loveky welcme pack provided by Jo, the owner. When we had a couple of minor maintainance issues, Jo dealt with them immediately, she was very responsive both prior to, and during our stay. We loved her cottage and the little courtyard garden was very special. Would have liked an ironing board (there was an iron),and a clothes airer (although there was a washer/dryer). My friends and I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely property in a stunning unspoilt part of the country. Would stay there again.
