Alnmouth, located just 5 kilometres (3 mi) east of Alnwick, is a picturesque resort that attracts golfers and those in search of a tranquil vacation. The village served as Alnwick's port in the past because of its prime location on a peninsula between the river and the North Sea. The area has been restored to its natural state and now features a wide selection of stores, eateries, a world-class "links" golf course, fantastic rivers for fishing, and countless miles of beautiful beaches and sand dunes with panoramic views of the North Sea.
