From Edwin Cottage you can also take a stroll to Amble high street, the marina, the Little Shore beach, and quayside harbour area that offers a range of leisure and shopping opportunities and benefits from fantastic scenery with views of the Coquet estuary, Warkworth Castle and the bird watching haven of rspb Coquet Island, which lies just a mile off the coast.  Coquet Island is most famous for the colourful puffins who return in their thousands to breed each springtime.  Seasonal boat trips are available to see the island close up.
