Amble Holiday Cottages

Lobster pots lining the busy port walls, the smell of seafood floating through the air and stallholders setting up at the busy market; the harbour village of Amble is a hive of enticing activity. Northumberland is known for its friendly locals, and Amble must be the friendliest port in the county. Its high street is well-appointed with a range of good pubs and handy shops, while Amble harbour has the draw of its craft market, sea views and fresh fish.

The beauty of a Northumberland cottage is that they can range so widely from cosy fisherman's houses to large and beautifully-presented family homes. Whether you need a coastal cottage with a sandy beach nearby or you're planning a dog-friendly holiday with Fido at the last minute, our high-quality accommodation cover all the bases. Our team is also ready and waiting to help you narrow down your options. Pet-friendly to child-friendly, we'll find your dream holiday.

Choosing a cottage in Amble gives you access to all of Northumberland's incredibly diverse coast. With ruined castles dotting the skyline, it's highly photogenic even on gloomy days. One of the best day trips from Amble is surely the boat trip to Coquet Island, just a mile off the coast. Here you'll find a nature reserve that is home to one of the UK's largest colonies of rare roseate terns, along with an imposing Victorian lighthouse.

More locations around Amble

Amble is just a short drive from Northumberland's most enticing towns. Try family-friendly Seahouses for arcades and boat trips or the castle at Alnwick if you're a Harry Potter fan. While it's hard to choose favourites, here are some of the very best.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • emma - Verified booking

Dairymaid Cottage has been thoughtfully and tastefully presented for holiday lets.

Everything is provided and easy to use. We enjoyed the staying there, and appreciated all the comforts. However, there was no indication from Sykes about the building works (in the "vicinity") being actually adjacent to the cottage.. I also asked whether the approach road to the cottage had lighting at night, and was told that it did. In fact the cottage is reached from an unlit junction, into an unlit lane, then to locate an unlit gateway. Neither outside light on the cottage was working. By telephoning the Chester office, we managed to get one swiftly repaired. The main reason why we will not recommend Sykes to anyone is because Customer Support has now been digitalised. This means that one cannot speak to anyone directly, and even my call to Northumbrian Cottages from the cottage about the lights was answered in Chester. Personal contact is essential for tenants when holiday issues need to be discussed, and it is sad that this lets down the good quality of the rest of the operation.

Bathroom sink slow running due to dirty hair filled drain, shower was the same.

Dusty cobwebs everywhere in the cottage and bathroom skirting boards not cleaned covered in dust. A hoover would be great to clean up sand brought in which being a seaside location is inevitable, brush and dust pan no good for older couples ! Oven not cleaned food bits left in the bottom. Would like more essentials, no one wants to take washing up liquid or toilet rolls on holiday, and what was supplied was insufficient for a week! Cafetière obviously for decoration only as we wasted some of our ground coffee as it just poured out the grounds with the water, had to buy one from Morrison’s. Wi-Fi didn’t work used up so much data, on phones as it only came on occasionally and even then was poor connection. Rug in sitting room was dirty too, perhaps not the best colour for a holiday let. The cottage is ‘okay’ but a few small simple changes would easily take it to excellent. Not the best value for money, we stayed in cheaper places in the area with far better facilities and much cleaner.

We just got home from the most relaxing stay at most the most beutiful cottage at the most beautifull surroundings.

The pictures on the listing doesn't do it justice. The cottage is spacious and cosy and we had everything what we needed and more. On arrival we were greeted with kind and toughtfull gift - delicious local butter, honey, bread and milk and cold prosecco and beers. Every room is perfect , the beds are very comfortable and the hot tube takes the whole experince on another level. We loved the view from the garden and the piece, quite and calm surroundings .The cottage is suitable for all ages - it is all fenced and secure if you have young kids and it is all on one floor if you have older or strugguling with stairs members of the family. We loved the little library at the lounge and the alexa in the kitchen.Thank you for creating this amazing space , we will be back.

We have had a wonderful week at the Lodge, the owners really care about making your stay as comfortable as possible and nothing seems to be forgotten.

The lodge is equipped with everything you could possibly need to make a home from home, the beds are comfy, the kitchen is well equipped, the fixtures and fittings are modern and high quality, and furnishings are stylish and cosy. A lovely welcome pack awaited us. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Perfect! We were blessed with sunny autumn weather which showed off the glorious Northumberland countryside to its colourful best, especially for long walks around Cragside and Wallington, and we had some lovely visits to the amazing beaches at Bamburgh and Druridge which are recommended especially if you have your dog with you as we did - she loved it! Thank you Gary and Tracey -we hope to be back.

The place was so equipt and had everything we needed and more and cannot fault the place.

The beds were super comfy! However, unfortunately I had an allergic reaction to the lodge due to potentially the type of detergent used for the bedding, little dusty in places etc. Maybe you guys could use a product that is for all types of skin. Also the wifi didn’t work so we had to use our phone data which wasn’t a problem as we were only there for a relaxing get-away. However, apologises this was not the owners fault at all, but the caravan nearby were having a party (no worries - everyone lives their best life) but because they had their music blasting until after 1am it was a rather sleepless night rather than relaxing. Nonetheless, superb lodge, and would recommend it.
