About this property

This lovely mid-terrace cottage, over 300 years old, is situated in the centre of the beautiful village of Castleton in the Peak District. A delightful break for families or friends wishing to explore this interesting part of the country. There is a porch at the front of the property from where you will enter the cottage into the comfortable sitting room with dining area. If the weather is unkind, there is a lovely living-flame gas fire to cosy up in front of. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you need to prepare delicious meals. Upstairs, there are two attractive bedrooms, one double and one twin. The twin bedroom has a low door entrance where you will have to mind your head! There are also original beams in this bedroom. All the accommodation is complete with a modern family bathroom. Outside this cosy cottage there are two patios. The first is at the front with furniture and there is a rear raised patio, accessed by galvanised steel steps, where you can sit and enjoy a refreshing drink whilst enjoying the fresh air. Eastry Cottage is positioned just off the village's market place and at the entrance to Cave Dale, a popular walking route. The pretty and historic village of Castleton, just three minutes’ walk from the cottage, is located in the heart of the picturesque Hope Valley and is famous for its Blue John stone. Castleton has four underground show caves: Blue John Cavern, Speedwell Cavern, Treak Cliff Cavern and Peak Cavern. Why not explore the ruins of Peveril Castle, high above the village? There are also many spectacular walking and cycling routes through the stunning countryside. With many restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops, together with stunning countryside, there is much to do and see from the doorstep of this charming cottage, all year round.

The outstandingly beautiful Peak District village of Castleton is situated at the top of the Hope Valley, on the doorstep of some great walking country. Steeped in fascinating history, the village boasts the Norman Peverill Castle Keep which is in a commanding position keeping an eye on the village and the National Park. The village is a draw to walkers and all manner of outdoor enthusiasts wanting to follow the paths, conquer the Winnats Pass or have a go at caving. Castleton is world-famous for its visitor caves and the beautiful semi precious stone Blue John which is only found and mined here. Castleton has a fabulous array of interesting little gift shops, some fantastic food pubs and an excellent Visitor Centre with its small museum explaining life in the Hope Valley, plus the Christmas lights and festive activities are very popular with visitors during December. Nearby are the pretty villages of Edale, the start of the Pennine Way, Hope and Hathersage with its seasonal outdoor swimming pool. Warm and cosy and well positioned for the village. Great facilities. The bathroom door still needs sorting out though as it doesn’t close properly!!

The owners had thought of everything! Very comfortable & very well equipped. Location was perfect as its right in the centre of Castleton within easy reach of all pubs, cafes etc. Haven't been to this area before but will definitely be back. We visited Bakewell, Buxton, Longshaw Country Estate with lots of walks to pick from. We'll return to this cottage & will recommend. Thank you for the welcome pack too
