About this property

Tucked away in the idyllic town of Looe, Cornwall, is this wonderful, detached cottage, Poppins Cottage. Enjoying a superb location in view of the stunning Looe estuary just moment’s away from the beach, train station and the local amenities, Poppins Cottage is a fantastic pet-friendly choice for couples, friends and families looking for a special place to spend time relaxing by the coast. The property benefits from two sought-after, off-road parking spaces, and a private side garden with seating, an ideal spot for savouring your morning coffee. Be welcomed into the inviting sitting room, where you can look forward to relaxing on the plush seating in front of a much-loved show on the TV, as the gas stove crackles nearby. Continue through to the spacious kitchen/diner, where you can conjure up delicious dishes, ready to savour at the dining table for eight as you recount the days adventures. The ground floor also plays host to two well-presented bedrooms, a double and a bunk, ideal for those with limited mobility and served by a well-appointed bathroom and a cloakroom. Head upstairs, where you will discover two further bedrooms, a double and a twin, both with basin and ideal for catching some well-deserved rest. Explore the town, where you can spend a day on the beach, hook your catch of the day along Banjo Pier, tour the Old Guildhall Museum & Gaol, tuck-in to fresh seafood at The Old Sail Loft, embark on a hike along the renowned South West Coast Path, or embark on a fishing charter. On the outskirts of the town, you can visit the charming Wild Futures, The Monkey Sanctuary with tours and superb sea views. Continue onto Seaton, where you can test out your swing at the excellent Axe Cliff Golf Club, dine at the welcoming eateries of Le Pisani, Old Picture House, Ragini, and Tase of Thai, enjoy a leisurely ride on the Seaton Tramway, and beachcombe the shores of Seaton Beach. Further afield, you’ll find Liskeard, home to the Liskeard Museum, Stuart House, Pengover Park, and the beautiful Moyclare Garden settled on the outskirts. All this and much more awaits at Poppins Cottage.

The quay area of East Looe is always bustling with maritime activity because Looe is Cornwall's second largest fishing port; it is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven-arched bridge built in the 19th century across the River Looe. In addition to walking, you can take the river taxi from East Looe to West Looe. While West Looe boasts a beautiful view across the harbour, East Looe is known for its winding lanes, cobblestone streets, and abundance of tourist shops. From the quay, you can make your way to Banjo Pier, a fantastic vantage point for watching the returning fishing trawlers and for gazing across the bay toward Looe Island, which is sometimes accessible by foot during low tides. Looe Beach, which is adjacent to the pier, is a popular destination for families due to its wide expanse of sand and shallow water. Children will also enjoy the fantastic rock pool area at Hannafore. The charming Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect, and bird life, and the West Looe Heritage Centre, with a climbing wall and a cafe, recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory. This area of south east Cornwall is known for its beaches, but it is also home to a number of World Heritage–listed sites, including the Bodmin Moor and Tamar Valley mining landscapes. Writers like Daphne du Maurier have found inspiration in this part of Cornwall, and much of Bodmin Moor features prominently in King Arthur myths. This scenic area of Cornwall is rich with discovery opportunities.
