About this property

The charming and traditional fisherman's home known as Mermaid Cottage rests paces away from Mousehole Harbour in Cornwall. Mermaid Cottage offers a great location for a family getaway, complete with stunning sea views, flexible sleeping options, and well-equipped, self-catering lodging, all within walking distance of a hub of facilities and the beach. Before heading to your new abode, park your car in a nearby public car park. Start your getaway in the open-plan living area, where you can relax on the plush sofa while the woodburning stove is lit, prepare delectable meals in the kitchen area and enjoy a bottle of wine with your dining companions; there's even a useful wine chiller to keep your drinks cool and ready for serving. As the day gives way to night, find the bathroom, and relax with a luxurious soak in the free-standing tub, or use the walk-in shower facilities if you'd rather have a refreshing shower. Choose between three stylish bedrooms, a twin (zip/link), a king-size room on the second floor, or a bunk room on the second floor. Awaken to your morning routine before heading into the village, where you'll find a deli and supermarket, 2 Fore Street Restaurant, and the Four Teas Cafe Mousehole, all of which will ease your self-catered stay. The Newlyn Art Gallery, which is worth a visit if you're an art enthusiast, is also awaiting nearby, along with the nature-filled coastline of Newlyn Tolcarne Beach; further attractions and utilities can also be found in Penzance. Reach St Ives, a popular Cornish town, by car, where you can tour the Tate St Ives art gallery, stroll along Porthgwidden Beach, people-watch from St Ives Harbour, and dine with a view of the coast in the background. Keen hikers will also enjoy the opportunity to explore the Penwith Heritage Coast and the breath-taking Land's End viewpoint. Make memories at Mermaid Cottage.

Mousehole is a charming fishing community that spills down to the coast from a hillside. Visitors travel from miles away to see the charming harbour, which is encircled by a tangle of winding, tiny alleys, while Mounts Bay's St. Michael's Mount is seen in the distance. Seabirds, seals, and untamed headlands lead just around the corner to Land's End, and the area features a fantastic coastline and miles of magnificent trekking. A few miles up the coast is the Minack cliff-top theatre, and dolmens and standing stones, remnants of the area's prehistoric past, are visible everywhere. It's only 12 miles to St. Ives, which is known for its breath-taking beaches, charming port, and winding streets.

The cottage is beautifully decorated and with lots of local art and furnishings. Mousehole itself didn’t disappoint and the local shops and pubs are really lovely. Ideal spot to see that West part of Cornwall. We enjoyed the games provided and the supplies of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. We would highly recommend anyone to stay at Mermaid Cottage.

The cottage is set over 3 floors and was perfect for us and our two teenagers. The ground floor was very homely with a comfy sofa and large family breakfast table, where we enjoyed sitting together and playing the board games provided! All mod cons. Only downside was no washing machine. Upstairs the rooms were bright, airy and quiet. Beautiful bathroom which felt new and clean. Great shower and bath. Mousehole itself is in a perfect location and with easy access to some great beaches for surfing and fantastic walks. We hope to stay again!

A great cottage - even better in real life than on the website. Very clean and comfortable.
