Porthmeor Beach House is a spacious and well-located property in St Ives, offering stunning views and ample parking. It is well-suited for large groups and families, with a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable living spaces. While some guests have noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, the house has also received praise for its charm and the provision of thoughtful touches such as a welcome hamper.
Guests have expressed concerns about cleanliness, mentioning dust, cobwebs, and mildew. Some found the property spotless, while others noted it could benefit from a deeper clean. The mixed feedback suggests room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to beaches, the town centre, and stunning views. The convenience of having parking in St Ives is frequently mentioned as a significant advantage.
The house is generally considered comfortable, with ample space for guests. However, some have noted issues with lumpy pillows, small towels, and the heat in bedrooms. Overall, the property provides a cosy and spacious environment.
Facilities are well-regarded, especially the kitchen and dining areas. However, guests have reported maintenance issues such as broken door handles, shower seals needing cleaning, and problematic ovens. Despite this, the house is equipped with amenities that guests appreciate.
Guests have appreciated thoughtful gestures like a welcome hamper with scones and clotted cream. While these gifts are well-received, they are not guaranteed for every stay.

The location is ideal, being just a short walk to the lovely beaches and an equally short walk to the hubbub of the streets of St Ives. 2. Parking is ample enough to park 2 fairly large SUVs (Audi Q5 size, ish). 3. Loads of space inside to easily accommodate 6 adults in the front room, children watching TV (or gaming). 4. The kitchen dining area is large. 5. Toilet in first floor en suite was broken on arrival and was fixed temporarily on the Monday and fixed completely on the Wednesday. Good service from Sykes (although see also below). Needs improvement / be aware of: 1. The kitchen chairs are working loose and quite rickety 2. The front room has a mild smell of (rising?) damp 3. Kitchen is scruffy, poorly laid out and lacking simple basics like a garlic press, tongues 4. The bathrooms are not very clean - there is black mould in the showers, toilets badly stained (presumably through poor regular cleaning) 5. Paint is peeling off the ceiling in the first floor twin room, perhaps linked to a damp patch on the ceiling 6. There are no lined curtains/black out blinds so youâll be up when the sun rises 7. The bed in the single room has broken slats 8. The beds in the first floor twin are tiny and uncomfortable 9. Wardrobe in top floor double is damp, with plaster falling off 10. Radiator in the main bathroom isnât working and the bath plug was difficult to remove (we had to use a knife) 11. First floor en-suite toilet not working - how was this not identified by the cleaners? Sykes were difficult to reach over the weekend. 12. Worst of all⦠the house next door was being renovated with workmen arriving around 7am (on one day it was 6.50am), making noise immediately by taking in tools and equipment, hammering starting around 8am. Whilst not the direct problem of Sykes, they should have been made aware of this so we could have been informed. The balcony party wall had been removed, the builders used our balcony for their tools, there was debris from the roof renovation falling into our yard, which they did clean on the Thursday, but meant we couldnât use the washing line). This did disturb every weekday morning of our holiday and, frankly, is completely unacceptable. In summary, itâs a great location but youâre paying 5* prices for 3* quality. Itâs shabby, not properly clean and needs some investment. Definitely not worth the £3500 we paid for the week.

Great location. Lovely views. Good size parking space. One suggestion would be to have larger towels - bath sheets would be better. The scones Jam and cream were a lovely surprise and very delicious. Tried to book again for the family next year but itâs already booked so sadly we had to find another house to rent. Thank you very much we had a lovely week.
