Strand Cottage is a dreamy holiday home in the idyllic village of Burton Bradstock, close to West Bay, Bridport and the spectacular Jurassic Coast. It's everything you picture a country cottage to be with an attractive front garden, beams, an inglenook fireplace, very comfortable bedrooms, and a rear garden with views of the coastal footpath. The cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is ideal for a family holiday or a romantic couple's retreat to the coast. There are two pubs, a village shop and an award-winning beach cafe, all within walking distance. 

Strand Cottage is a much loved holiday cottage which dates back some 200 years. The charming Dorset cottage only gets more attractive with age, especially against the picturesque backdrop of Burton Bradstock village. National Trust Hive Beach and the award-winning Hive Beach Cafe are barely half a mile or a 10-minute walk from the door, providing you with access to the South West Coast Path and the stunning unesco Jurassic Coast. Within a short stroll are two friendly pubs, The Anchor and The Three Horseshoes, a village shop and a Post Office. Strand Cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and has room for an infant. It's ideal for a family escape or a romantic break in any season.

Burton Bradstock is an idyllic village. It's conveniently close to the beach and gives good access to the countryside, enabling you to experience everything that makes Dorset a favourite holiday destination. Bridport is less than three miles from the cottage (approximately an hour by foot along footpaths). It's a fantastic market town with bags of character and all the amenities you'll want for your self-catering holiday, including a busy market every Wednesday and Saturday. Bridport also has a local museum, a vibrant arts scene, and the popular Palmers Brewery, whose cask ales have been quenching thirst since 1794.

There is a huge choice of places to visit during your stay, no matter what time of year you visit. West Bay has two beaches - East Beach, where the impressive cliffs were used as a backdrop for the TV series Broadchurch, and sheltered West Beach, popular with families due to its shallow waters that are safe for paddling. Like many of the beaches of the Jurassic Coast, West Bay is as fun in winter as it is in summer. Go beach-combing and fossil hunting, warming up with a cup of steaming hot chocolate in a tea room after walking along the South West Coast Path. Walk to the peak of Golden Cap. At 191 metres above sea level, it is the highest point on the south coast. Your efforts will be rewarded with panoramic views and plenty of photo opportunities. Lyme Regis and Charmouth are two more fantastic destinations for a day out, or you can spend a leisurely few hours in Abbotsbury with its popular swannery and sub-tropical gardens. Weymouth, Portland and Dorchester are slightly further away but still within reach for a day out.

Attractions worth visiting within approximately an hour include Bovington Tank Museum, Lulworth Castle, Durdle Door, the steam train connecting Corfe Castle and Swanage, Studland Bay, Quarry Caves in Beer and country houses and gardens like those at Kingston Lacey, Barrington Court, and Forde Abbey.

Strand Cottage is sure to be exactly what you're looking for in your next holiday home. The garden is ideal for lazy summer barbecues, and there's nothing nicer than snuggling up in front of the gas-fired stove in the inglenook fireplace after a brisk walk in autumn and winter. Strand Cottage is a period home with 200 years of history imbued in its golden stone walls. Accommodation is over two levels.

Downstairs:

Entry to the cottage is through an attractive front garden and into the welcoming living/dining room where a wooden floor, beams, and a stone inglenook fireplace fulfil your country cottage dreams. There are two comfortable sofas, window seats with garden views, and a choice of books and family-friendly games if you don't want to watch the TV or a DVD. An oak dining table seats four people.

Cooks will love the well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room, which is stocked with all of the equipment and utensils necessary for a self-catering holiday. Efficient appliances include a ceramic stove, double oven, microwave, and dishwasher. The kitchen table will be the setting for lazy breakfasts and relaxed kitchen suppers.

Unusual for a cottage, the utility room is a convenient addition, with laundry and cleaning facilities as well as a place to hang wetsuits and leave walking boots to dry.

Underfloor heating is a luxurious touch in the bathroom, which features a deep roll-top bath with a shower overhead, a heated towel rail, WC and a handbasin.

Upstairs:

Master bedroom with a kingsize (5ft-wide) bed, with a quality mattress and bedding to ease you into a good night's sleep. There's ample storage and a TV with Freeview channels.

Twin bedroom with two single beds, quality bedding, and proper storage.

Outside: The house is set back from the road through a picket gate and an attractive front garden. The rear garden has views of the coastal footpath, and a barbecue area with seating and a parasol for summer days, and a chiminea for staying warm while stargazing.

Strand Cottage is gas centrally heated throughout.

There is wireless broadband, and Vodafone mobile coverage; all other mobile providers have limited coverage throughout the village.

Whilst a highchair and travel cot are available on request, please note that stairgates and cot linen are not provided. Infants aged 24 months or less are welcome in a travel cot as a fifth guest.

The cottage is non-smoking including vapour and e-cigarettes.
