Maypole Cottage sleeping up to 4 guests
Ideal for couples or families, this delightful single-storey property is the perfect base for those wishing to discover the Cotswolds and Shakespeare country.
A recently refurbished, spacious, two bedroom bungalow in a fabulous village centre location in Welford-on-Avon. The property has beautiful front gardens and a lovely courtyard garden to the rear to enjoy the evening sun with a glass of wine. The living room, dining room and kitchen have been fully refurbished to give guests an ideal relaxing and upmarket holiday home. As the name suggests, you can see the village maypole, which is one of tallest in England, and where an annual maypole dancing festival is centred around.
The village lies on the banks of the River Avon and has one of the most photographed streets in Warwickshire, which is home to many thatched cottages including the original ’chocolate box’ cottage. It is a thriving village with three pubs, a shop, a butcher and two churches. It is situated on the borders of Shakespeare country, the north Cotswolds and the Vale of Evesham. With Stratford-upon-Avon just over 4 miles away, you can visit its attractions including William Shakespeare’s birthplace, Mary Arden’s Farm, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Stratford-upon-Avon’s racecourse, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and the riverside with boat trips along the Avon.
The Cotswolds are within easy reach, and well worth a visit are Broadway and Moreton-in-Marsh with lovely drives through the quintessential villages of the Cotswolds. Warwick, with its medieval castle, is 15 miles away, and Royal Leamington Spa is 22 miles. Alcester, an ancient Roman town in a beautiful part of south west Warwickshire, is just over 6 miles and has many archaeological sites of interest both in the town and the surrounding area. The high street is reminiscent of a by-gone era with preserved Tudor cottages and other historical buildings dotted throughout. Welford-on-Avon is well placed for access to the major midland towns and cities of Coventry, Birmingham and Redditch. Why not pamper yourself at the local hairdresser and beauty shop which is within walking distance? Shop 50 yards, pub and restaurant 70 yards.
