About this property

Settled at the end of a quiet track above the centre of Campbeltown is this charming detached bungalow, Rhuside, offering a scenic base for adventures on the Kintyre Peninsula. This terracotta cottage is ideal for a family of six seeking an authentic Scottish break, just a stone's throw from the heart of the town and surrounded by incredible scenery. Upon arrival park up on the off-road space before heading inside, finding a small porch entrance where you can hang up coats and leave boots. Make your way into the kitchen/diner after returning from a day out, flicking the kettle on or preparing a snack for the group, with a host of appliances to assist you on your self-catered stay, with the addition of a washing machine and tumble dryer. Gather at the dining table at the end of the room at mealtimes, with the table extending to seat all six guests, with a door leading out to the garden from here. Relax in the evening within the homely comfort of the sitting room, home to an electric stove-effect fire adding a warming touch, with a TV to watch and a selection of books to peruse, you can unwind on the large sofa. Find three delightful bedrooms to choose from at night, with the double bedroom and one of the two twin rooms featuring beautiful views from the windows down to the harbour and the sea, each adorned with bright, fresh colour schemes and storage for your things. Freshen up within the family bathroom which boasts a bath with an overhead shower, with a WC separate. Enjoy having your own outdoor space with the garden excellently maintained and containing a number of shrubs and trees to provide privacy, whilst ensuring the wonderful views are still visible from your fabulous elevated position. Set off from your doorstep on a walk down into town to the harbour side where you can admire the varied collection of boats before browsing Campbeltown's offering of shops and cafés. Delight in having an excellent choice of restaurants, pubs and takeaways when you need a night off from cooking, or want to celebrate a special occasion. Whiskey connoisseurs will love being on the doorstep of a well-established and award-winning distillery, Glen Scotia Distillery, where you can enjoy a 1-hour tour of the distillery before rounding the visit off with a dram of their double cask single malt whiskey! At low-tide enjoy a walk out to Davaar Island via the mile-long causeway to take in the fantastic views of Campbeltown and over to Arran, with a number of sea caves to explore too including one famous for being home to a cave painting of the Crucifixion from 1887! Pay a visit to the Campbeltown Heritage Centre to learn of the local history or the Campbeltown Museum, and don't miss a chance to see the oldest working cinema in Scotland at Campbeltown Picture House, noted for its Art Nouveau design. Golfers can enjoy some great golf courses like the Machrahanish Golf Club, around ten minutes away by car, designed by famed Scottish golfer Old Tom Morris in 1876. As well as beautiful beaches including Carskiey Beach and Dunaverty Beach, and the likes of Mull of Kintyre and Southend, there's plenty to see and do from Campbeltown. There are lots of ways of reaching Campbeltown, but if you fancy a break from driving why not take the ferry from Ardrossan, enjoying a coffee on board whilst you wait to reach your destination. Spend a tranquil retreat at Rhuside on the scenic Kintyre Peninsula.
