About this property

New Quay 5 miles. Deep in the countryside down a private lane you will find Barley Cottage, ready to welcome you to an unhurried restful stay. As you round the corner you will enter a spacious courtyard with plenty of off road parking, then follow the sign through a gate onto a charming patio area where you will be able to relax and unwind. Entrance to the cottage is through a sun room where a comfy sofa invites you to take your ease, curl up with a good book enveloped in the warmth of the sunlight streaming through the picture windows. A quaint stable door takes you through into the main living space, here you will find a unique handcrafted, well equipped kitchen area perfect for preparing that special dinner for two to enjoy in the charming dining area. Settle in for the evening and enjoy your experience of lighting the rustic wood burner and sink into the inviting cozy sitting area created especially for you to unwind after your days’ activities. Upstairs you will find an inviting characterful double bedroom with panoramic views over the countryside to feast your eyes on, with an ensuite spacious shower, the window seat is a favourite spot to enjoy a steaming cup of coffee while watching the red kites soar over the fields. If you’re heading out for the day, then we suggest you make your way over to the coast at New Quay to watch the dolphins in the bay from the harbour wall or from a boat trip, and enjoy tasting the local cuisine from fish and chips to gourmet meals. If you love being active then there is safe swimming and a watersports centre for sailing, kayaking or paddle boarding down on the beachfront, or take a fishing trip to catch your tea. The colourful Georgian town of Aberaeron is only a short distance away, here you will find a good range of artisan cafes, craft shops, boutiques, an organic food shop, bookshop and local butcher. Enjoy your time browsing before you stop to experience the local honey ice cream at the Hive on the Quay and stroll along the harbour and promenade enjoying the boats as they bob on the sparkly water when the tide is in. Watching the sun go down here is a real pleasure and enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Other local attractions nearby include National Trust's Llanerchaeron Estate where you can visit a fabulous farm and meet the Llanwenog sheep and Welsh pigs, before admiring the historic Walled Garden of Llanerchaeron which has been producing fruit and vegetables for over 200 years. Visit the enchanting coves of Cwmtudu, LLangrannog, Penbryn and Mwnt, the hidden treasures of the West Wales coast, and enjoy our beautiful rugged Coast Path before returning to a good night's sleep and your log burner for the evenings.

The vibrant market town of Llandysul is nestled in the picturesque countryside of Wales, playing home to a selection of shops and eateries, including a traditional village pub and a delicious takeaway. A warm welcome on arrival, the cottage was immaculately clean and well kept. A real home from home, warm cosy and very well equipped. Loved the sun room and the bedroom window seat, with it's lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Recommended without hesitation and would definitely stay here again.

The conservatory got the morning sun & in the evening the log burner provided the warmth. The views from the window seat in the bedroom were breathtaking. I had a very relaxing few days. It was perfect!
