There is a mixture of old and new buildings, now housing several tea rooms and restaurants. It has a good road network, with very easy access to Louth, Lincoln and the coast. The nearby coastline has long, sandy beaches and sand dunes, a haven for wildlife, including a couple of seal sanctuaries, notably Donna Nook Seal Reserve to the north of Mablethorpe.
