About this property

Perched at the centre of Grasmere, right above the popular Lakes Art, The Gallery is an attractive apartment offering up the perfect spot from which to enjoy some incredible fell walking, any time of year. Enamating light through the gorgeous Velux windows that line the striking sloping ceilings, the homely open-plan living space creates a warm and welcoming ambiance where you can rest and recuperate on one of the large fabric sofas as you flick on the sleek HD TV to catch your favourite shows. Move your way across to the pretty cream kitchen, a quaint yet well-equipped space where you can prepare delicious home-cooked meals for all to enjoy at the attractive wood dining table, throughout your stay. Venture down the hallway and discover two beautifully-appointed bedrooms including a roomy double decorated with traditional furnishing, and an airy twin boasting plush grey carpets and bright white walls. Both bedrooms are served by a sophisticated shower room with chic wall-to-floor tiling and a commodious walk-in shower, great for grabbing a quick morning rinse before setting about your day. Make the most of your stunning surroundings with breath-taking strolls along White Moss Walks, or embarking on thrilling hikes up to the peaks of Red Screes and Fairfield Peak. See the enchanting Rydal Cave or spot the beautiful waters of Skelwith and Stock Ghyll Force as you wander the Grasmere Waterfall Walkways. Tour the brilliant museums of Wordsworth Grasmere and The Ruskin, or visit the grand former homes of Brantwood, Hill Top and Rydal Mount & Gardens. Enjoy a romantic trip on Coniston Water with the National Trust owned Steam Yatch Gondola or head on over to the town of Bowness-on-Windermere where you can delight in a cruise along the vast Lake Windermere and visit The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, before grabbing dinner and drinks in one of the many bustling bars and restaurants. Those travelling with children should be sure to spend a day at Treetop Lake District or the wonderful Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, just a pleasant drive away. Upon your return to the cottage, be sure to stop off in one of the many local supermarkets for some tasty ingredients ahead of a relaxing yet entertaining evening indoors. Live unforgettable moments with your loved ones on an exciting escape to the Cumbrian Countryside at The Gallery.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

The apartment was lovely and incredibly well furnished with all the amenities. It was both warm and comfortable. The Gallery was an ideal location for exploring Grasmere and the surrounding area. We will definitely return for another stay!

The storage heaters are inadequate and by the evening give out a minimum of heat. It was very cold whilst we were in Grasmere. The electric heaters in bathroom and bedroom come on about 5.00pm. Would have liked that to be earlier. Would only go back in the Summer. We wouldn't go away with Sykes again. £40.00 booking fee totally unacceptable..

However it was great to be back and as warm and comfortable as before. A superb spot to visit the Central Lakes with convenient bus connections in various directions.
