About this Holiday Cottage

Penrice Castle Cottages are a collection of 16 traditional self catering cottages set in and around the grounds of Penrice Castle Estate near Oxwich Bay. The Estate lies in the heart of Gower in South Wales with some cottages just half a mile from the beach.The Estate owns Oxwich beach, which was voted best beach in Britain 2007 and for which access is free to cottage guests.

Penrice Castle Cottages' range of 16 traditional cottages sleep between two and eight people and all are different in style. We have one cottage which is suitable for people with poor mobility and is all on one level and The Towers which is ideal for a romantic stay for two. Cottages have open or log fires and some have beautiful sea views.

Inside

Our range of 16 traditional cottages sleep between two and eight people and all are different in style. Some of our properties are very traditional and others are more contemporary so hopefully we have one to suit your taste. Estate Office cottage is suitable for people with poor mobility and is all on one level and sleeps 3.

Cottages have open or log fires and some have beautiful sea views. All beds are made up on arrival, towels and tea towels are provided. The Towers Gatehouse, which looks like a ruined mini-castle is suitable for romantic breaks. This one bedroom property has a round bedroom located in the Tower and has been restored to a very high standard.

Other Things to Note

Tennis coaching and massage treatments are available by prior arrangement. Private trout fishing is available. Home cooked food prepared by our chef can be ordered in advance for your arrival. Cots and high chairs are available but not cot linen. Baby sitting can be arranged on request. Basic shopping can be done if enough notice is given.

Well behaved dogs are welcome in every house, maximum of two but they are not allowed upstairs. £15 per dog. Oxwich Beach allows dogs all year round. Full week booking start on a Friday, short out of season breaks can start any day but must not cross over into a second booking week. Free WiFi in all cottages.

Availability

For full availability and prices please go to Penrice Castle website as we are unable to show prices for all 16 cottages for 52 weeks. Short breaks available out of season only Oct to Easter.

Prices start from as low as £295 for 4 nights at a cottage that will sleep 2 people. Last minute breaks are sometimes available in season if the cottage is still available but otherwise from Easter to October we only offer full weeks. Out of season short breaks are available excluding school holiday periods at Xmas and October. 

Around and About

In the grounds of Penrice Estate we have a tennis court, lake for fishing with small rowing boat and about one hundred acres of park and gardens to explore. Penrice Castle and the surrounding Estate has survived an era of change and is relatively untouched and provides a beautiful and peaceful haven away from modern life. Tennis coaching and massage treatments are available by prior arrangement. Private trout fishing is available. Along the beach guests can try their hand at one of the many activities including many watersports or just take a gentle stroll along the coast.

Golf, horseriding, birdwatching are all available in the area. Home cooked food prepared by our chef can be ordered in advance for your arrival. Cots and high chairs are available but not cot linen. Baby sitting can be arranged on request. Basic shopping can be done if enough notice is given. Well behaved dogs are welcome in all properties except The Towers, maximum of two dogs per house £15 each for up to 7 nights but they are not allowed in the bedrooms under any circumstances.

Directions

Situated just off the A4118 our 16 cottages are scattered around the outskirts of the grounds of Penrice Estate just above Oxwich Bay approx 16 miles from Swansea about 30mins in the car. You can reach us by train to Swansea High Street station and then get a taxi or a bus (unfortunately these only run hourly).
