Two holiday lets sleeping 2 and 5We are once again delighted to anounce that Nordham Cottages: Bay Tree and Horseshoe Cottage were chosen as finalists in the REYTA awards, the East Yorkshire Tourism Awards for 2017. We were also finalists in 2016 & 2014. We're thrilled to reach the finals once again.
Fully accredited 4* Bay Tree Cottage and 4* GOLD Horseshoe Cottage sit in the quiet residential area of Nordham, North Cave. North Cave is 2 minutes off the M62 motorway, so is quick and easy to find. The gateway to East Yorkshire's Wildlife Triangle, North Cave boasts the Wetlands Bird Sanctuary, a short walk away. With stunning Yorkshire Wolds countyside from the door, famed by David Hockney and the Wolds Way, Nordham is an ideal base to enjoy the best of East Yorkshire, York, the East Coast and beyond.
At the bottom of our description there are suggestions of places to visit and a diary of events. We guarantee you will not be bored!
Our two cottages can be taken together to give spacious accommodation for up to 7 people, with an internal link downstairs - ideal for family holidays where grandparents/friends get some privacy!
The two Victorian gardeners' cottages have lots of character and the sunny south facing shared courtyard garden to the rear is a idyllic place to relax with privacy from neighbours and the road. There are two separate eating areas in the courtyard, the larger of the two, comfortably sitting 8. There is a log burning barbeque and logs can be provided on request. The 'Old Laundry' has extra fridge/freezer space, washer, dryer and also serves as safe place to lock up your cycles.
Off-road parking for 3 cars, 2 spaces for Horseshoe Cottage and 1 for Bay Tree Cottage.
Horseshoe comprises, kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, 4 ring / 2 oven cooker, microwave; larder with fridge; dining room to sit 8 people, log burner effect electic fire, original stripped pine cupboards containing games, books, and videos, TV with DVD and video; sitting room with feature gas fired traditional style fireplace and TV and DVD; 2 bathrooms with showers over; 1 large twin room (which can accomodate an extra bed), 1 single (which can accomodate an extra bed)and 1 master bedroom with kingsize bed. Extra beds can be arranged £30/week extra. Baby equipment can also be arranged - cot, high chair, fire-guard, stair-gate: all for £25 extra) .
Bay Tree comprises sitting room with feature gas fired traditional style fireplace with original stripped pine cupboards containing games, books and videos, and tourist information, TV, DVD; kitchen with dining area; upstairs has 1 bedroom with kingsize bed with feature fireplace and TV/video: large, sunny bathroom with shower over. Cot etc can also be supplied for Bay Tree with a charge of £25.

Enjoy the clean fresh air and the peaceful Wolds countryside famed by Hockney. Discover the nearby towns and cities such as Beverley, Hull and York along with many others and explore the East Yorkshire coastline, which varies from white chalk cliffs to long sandy beaches stretching from Flamborough Head to Spurn Point.
Enjoy SEEING the Wolds, the Coast and lovely WALKING around our village, enjoy our own farm tracks 'down the dale' on the famous Wolds Way in the next village. Fiona Barltrop, renown walking journalist stayed in Horseshoe cottage last year, and created some wonderful walks from our doorstep! We also know of a fair few ourselves, with good pub stops on the way.
For BIRD & WILDLIFE enthusiasts, come and enjoy the bird sanctuary on the door step and our streamside hide; also the Wolds countryside, where skylarks are in abundance in the fields and wildlife on the stream, only 2 minutes from the door. We can point you in the right direction. Lovely NGS garden available to see.
Suggestions for visits: - The Deep in Hull; Jorvik Viking Centre in York; North York Moors National Park; Royal Armories in Leeds; Burton Agnes Hall & Gardens & Bridlington, or Sledmere House & Gardens & Driffield; the Yorkshire Sculpture Park at Wakefield ;Enjoy a day at Flamingoland. Seven full, 'fun packed' days, and Nordham Cottages are ideally located to be able to do them all!
DIVING, KAYAKING, & CLAY SHOOTING all available in the village/close by, and many great destinations LOCALLY such as Drewtons Farm Shop & Restaurant, The Falconary Centre, Antique shops, Garden Centres etc. SHOPPING in quaint local market towns such as BEVERLEY. Major visitor attractions in HULL & YORK. COAST within 35-55 mins, depending on which resort.
Visit the dramatic chalk cliffs at Bempton with world renowned bird-life to see. Walk along the sandy beaches at Bridlington, Hornsea and beyond. After a good day out, return to a relaxing, well equipped home and if the weather is good, light the log barbecue and enjoy an evening outdoors. If you'd rather have a cosy night inside, enjoy sitting around the fireplace and snuggle in with a film and a bottle of wine.
Once again our cottages are close to the action with the forthcoming Tour de Yorkshire. Make the most of the excellent cycling around here and bring your bikes with you as well. We have cycle ' lock up' available.
