Cottage holidays in Devon

Beaches

Devon has a fantastic range of beaches and coves just waiting for you and your family to enjoy on your last-minute break. Woolacombe in North Devon has an award winning golden sandy beach. Being three miles long and having a mix of waves and shallow waters, it's great for your family and surfers. Both North and South Devon have stunning beaches, and with a last-minute cottage never far away, you and your family can enjoy the beach all day long. Whether surfing, wind sailing, or just soaking up some sun, a day on the beach is never far away in Devon.

Walking

Devon isn't just sun, sea, sand and surfing. Both coastal and inland Devon have fantastic walks for your family to enjoy. It's hard to visit Devon and miss the irresistible Dartmoor National Park, 368 square miles of rolling hills, ancient forests, rivers and Tors that attract countless visitors every year. With walks following ancient rivers, medieval bridges and ancient churches these routes are flexible for less experienced walkers, and a village or town is never too far away. Many coastal walks are available, including the South West Coastal Path, the UK's longest National Trail. Whether you choose to explore the coast or inland Devon, you'll find one of our cottages placed nearby, and with the option of a private pool or hot tubcottage, you can really relax after a long day of walking.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Rachael - Verified booking

We can not rate this property enough.

Set in a beautiful picturesque location, that is so peaceful and quiet you can only hear the local farm animals. We were greeted on arrival by the owner Gill and her two gorgeous farm dogs, when we entered the cottage we were blown away by how beautiful it was inside, we were left scones, eggs, tea and coffee and even some treats for our own dog Chester. It has everything and more in my eyes. Open plan downstairs, including kitchen, dining and sitting room, upstairs two beautifully decorated rooms, each with their own bathroom. Then off the main bedroom, doors lead out to a patio area with gorgeous views. You can access the lower garden via here and also from the kitchen and there are some stairs that lead down to the front of the property too. It is a perfect base to then venture out and explore more of Devon, but you can then come back and relax in tranquility. My mum, myself and Chester had a wonderful stay xx

This is such a beautifully kept and well equipped cottage.

Gill the host was fantastic. We had a lovely home made cake, local eggs and milk when we got into the cottage. We were even provided with enough logs for two nights with was a really bonus and not a usual occurrence when we stay away. We spent the weekend hiking and the location was just perfect as it’s located on the edge of Dartmoor. We like to cook in the evenings post hike and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make a big post hike roast. The bedrooms are beautifully comfortable with the master having access onto a huge patio that leads down to the main garden and overlooks the countryside. The garden is completely secure and my dog Zipp loved roaming around with no worries about him getting out. The cottage was pristinely clean throughout. Highly recommended!!! Thank you Gill! We’ll be back again.

Wow! Where do I start?! We have stayed in cottages all over the country and this gem of a place has been the best! Lovely helpful owners who told us about some fantastic place to visit. The welcome hamper was amazing and the freshest eggs from the cottages new chickens! The cottage was so comfortable and cosy and had everything you could possibly need, set in a stunning little village. The walks from the cottage were superb. If you don’t fancy cooking there are numerous places nearby to eat for example Millers farm shop for breakfast and snacks and a little shopping, to Tuckers thatched pub just a few miles away. I would recommend River Cottage Kitchen in Axminster for an evening meal, delicious! Over all I would absolutely return to this cottage. We simply did not want to leave! Thank you 😊

Really nice cottage, although all on different levels the rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was beautiful, but in the basement, this meant having to navigate the winding narrow staircase down two floors from the bedroom, definitely not for the faint hearted or anybody slightly infirm. Superb welcome hamper was very welcome. Safe easy parking for the car. Small but well kept village location, nothing there but the Kings Arms pub, which was very welcoming serving good food and dogs welcome. Long drive to anywhere of interest along narrow twisting lanes for miles. Craig who met and us on arrival proved to be a very good and always on hand when needed. Overall a pleasurable three day stay. Fully recommended, but not for anybody unsteady on the legs because of the stairs.

Probably the best property we have stayed in.

Clean and comfortable. Best bed ever ! Soft towels and carpets, comfy sofa, well equipped. Great power shower. Wonderful garden which is completely secure even for a small dog. Split level is fabulous and it's so nice to be able to open the bedroom patio doors onto the top terrace. The property is next door to the owners' but is private and you don't feel intruded upon. It's also surprisingly quiet to say you're on a working farm.Their dogs may visit but that was never an issue. If you have a dog there's every reason to stay here. You are straight out onto a lovely walk. This property is a cut above with lots of nice touches. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend these hosts and this gorgeous property.
