About this property

This ultra-modern holiday home on the Croatian island of Korčula can accommodate 12 guests in supreme style. Located on the south-western coast at Karbuni, around 9km from Vela Luka, it has its own private pool and is located right by the water – even providing a pair of kayaks for you to go exploring.

Spacious terraces add yet more charm to Villa Milenka, offering the chance to sunbathe or relax while admiring the view. There is also a large dining table for formal or informal gatherings outside. It’s easy to walk down to the beach or to the concrete plateau which provides a great lounging spot right by the water. A courtyard swimming pool with terrace adds another option.

The villa makes the most of the gorgeous, panoramic views, with rooms featuring large glass walls and doors. From the ground floor terrace, you can walk straight through to the living room and kitchen. You have a Smart TV, DVD, Wi-Fi and music system along with modern furnishings, and the kitchen provides a dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine and electric oven. There is also a barbecue outside.

Each of the five bedrooms on the first floor – four doubles and a twin – has its own shower room, and there is a sixth bathroom and bedroom on the second floor, forming part of a penthouse apartment complete with kitchen and living space. All of the bedrooms have access to a terrace, so you just can’t lose at Villa Milenka. If you are bringing young children, a cot and high chair are also available.

Korčula is a beautiful and romantic island, with stunning scenery whichever direction you head in. Among the closer towns, Blato and Vela Luka are both rewarding places to visit, while it is certainly worth making the 45-minute drive to Korčula town too. The surrounding islands, such as Hvar, Mljet and Brač, are full of natural wonders and not to be missed, and it’s easy to take in Split or Dubrovnik, either by ferry or on an organised cruise.

The island of Korčula is so picturesque it’s a wonder that it’s not overrun with visitors. The beautiful Old Town of Korčula sits pretty amongst olive groves, vineyards and pine forests on the island’s north-eastern side, looking out towards the Pelješac peninsula.

As one of the Adriatic’s more populous islands, Korčula is well-prepared for the visitors it receives, many of whom appreciate its laid-back vibe and natural beauty. The main town is a lovely place to wander, with street markets, pavement cafés and old buildings to admire. Look out for St Mark’s Cathedral and the imposing Revelin Tower which once marked the entrance to the walled city. The view, looking out over the harbour, is a charming one.

Around 15km from the town of Korčula, the lovely Pupnatska Luca beach is also worth a visit; aside from chilling out in the sun, its crystal blue waters are great for swimming and snorkelling. Elsewhere on the island, you can try white-water rafting in Blato, or diving in Vela Luka.

You may find some visitor attractions based around Marco Polo’s (possibly tenuous) connection to Korčula, as he is something of an unofficial mascot for the island. However, there are many more authentic experiences to be had on the island. With galleries, winery tours and many beautiful villages to see, avoid the tourist traps and keep it real. For an unforgettable taste of the true Korčula, head to Vela Luka and take a boat trip to Proizd island, just off the west coast – a naturally stunning spot you won’t want to miss. The Villa
