Great little beach less than a mile away and a great location to explore Mayo and especially Achill Island. There's a shop, petrol station, couple of restaurants and pub in the town. Newport is a bit larger and has a few more shops just 15km down the road. It was a bit snug for seven people with only seats for five people in the living room, we weren't in much so not a problem for us. The beds were comfy but not much space to put more than one suitcase in each room so pack sparingly. We found the showers a bit fiddly but if you turned them to cold then back up to hot again they seemed to work well. The kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils you could need, the owners even left us some milk and a few snacks. There was a lovely seating area outside, unfortunately we didn't manage to make the best use of it as the weather wasn't great but would be lovely on a sunny day with views across the bay of Crough Patrick. From the rooms at the front of the house there are large windows looking out over the bay which are amazing views even when the weather isn't great. There is a small charge for electricity which we didn't see in the advert but we paid about â¬1 a day so not much on top of the cost of staying here. The owners were lovely, always there if we needed anything and gave us some good advice on the local area and just for a chat as well. We had lunch one day at Doherty's in the village and it was a fine meal. Overall it's a great place and I'd definitely recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the area.
