Carna 4.5 miles. This pretty, stone-built cottage sits in the rural townland of Cashel, just off the main country road. Over 100 years old but lovingly restored, Ti Sonny provides a welcoming abode for up to five guests, offering the feel of a traditional Irish cottage coupled with the conveniences expected of a modern family holiday. Located in Connemara, a rugged and beautiful Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) area of County Galway, this Carna cottage boasts expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean to the front and a lawned garden to the rear, perfect for children or for a barbecue on a sunny day. After a day of exploring, head to the kitchen to satisfy your appetite, utilising a range of appliances to whip up a tasty feast before gathering at the dining table. Retire to the lounge and spend the evening catching up on your favourite shows, with the electric fire providing a gentle warmth. Whisk away to the bedrooms, choosing between two doubles to lay your rest, whilst the shower room is where you can prepare for the day. The pretty fishing village of Roundstone, the impressive Kylemore Abbey and the beautiful Connemara National Park are just a short drive away, while keen shoppers and culture-vultures can be in Galway City in just over an hour. With plenty to do in the surrounding area and a pub and restaurant just a just short walk away, Ti Sonny has something to offer everyone. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 928470, together they sleep 10 guests.
The small village of Carna lies on the shores of Galway Bay, overlooking Galway Harbour, in the scenic region of Connemara. Lying off the coast of Carna is St. MacDara's Church and Island, a notable holy place in west Ireland, and a site of pilgrimage and mass in July. The sailing crafts, the 'Galway Hookers' were made in Carna, as well as a small boat called the Currach, and the area is well known for the skilled boat makers who crafted them. There are still some working examples of the Galway Hooker in Kinvara's quaint harbour. There is great fishing in the area with Lough Mask and Lough Corrib close by, while Connemara National Park, home to the famous Connemara Pony and Kylemore Abbey are both within easy reach, providing great days out for all the family.
