The Shillelagh stick, a well-crafted blackthorne stick originally used as a fighting weapon but now used as an ornamental or walking stick originated just outside the village. For walkers, the Wicklow Way runs past the village, and the nearby Tomnafinnoge Oak Wood, one of the largest remaining oak woods in Ireland makes for a lovely walk.
