For Italophiles seeking the authenticity of southern Italy, step back in time at this exquisitely restored 300-year old farmhouse that has been expertly brought back to life for discerning guests who appreciate heritage, nature and beautiful style.
Set 250m above sea level and with views of the rolling hills, Villa Vista Infinita welcomes up to 8 guests across its four air-conditioned bedrooms, so elegantly furnished and each featuring an en suite bathroom with walk-in shower. Original chestnut beams and exposed stone remain across the cosy living room/cinema lounge and grand dining area, with thick stone walls to keep the interiors cool. The brand new kitchen exudes southern Italian charm with high-end appliances alongside pretty tiles and traditional features. A chef and cookery lessons can be arranged.
Sit out with figs, bread, olive oil and local wine as you gaze at the countryside landscapes from your pergola or follow the steps down to the gorgeous swimming pool with its sun loungers, shade and yet more breathtaking vistas. Embrace the aroma of lemon trees across the mature landscaped gardens as well as grape vines, fig and olive trees so typical of this region.
A short drive brings you to a pretty little village in the hills, perfect for a morning coffee or bite to eat, whilst the bustling town of Agropoli is just over 5km away, perched above the Tyrrhenian sea and loved for its medieval old town, castle and watchtower.
Here you are far away from the mass tourist crowds of northern Campania, yet there is so much to experience. Come across the sheltered Baia di Trentova and other beaches in the area, tour the fascinating caves by boat, visit the fishing village where Hemingway wrote ‘The Old Man and the Sea’ and drive to the incredible archaeological site of Paestum, an ancient Greek city less than half an hour away.
Return to the gentle ambience of Villa Vista Infinita as you cool off in the swimming pool, fire up the barbecue to grill local seafood and truly relax in the stunning Cilento region of Italy.
Set on a vast estate with incredible south-facing views towards the countryside, rolling hills and distant Tyrrhenian sea, Villa Vista Infinita enjoys a beautiful rural location in the Cilento region of southern Italy, only a short drive from the medieval seaside town of Agropoli. The house is 250m above sea level.
The nearest little village is around 3km away, set in the hills with yet more distant views of the sea. Surrounded by landscapes of fig trees and olive groves, explore the narrow lanes and admire its historic buildings and churches before stopping off in a village bar for a coffee or bite to eat.
Across the area, visit the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Paestum (14km) or the archaeological site of Velia (35km) and venture into the Parco Nazionale del Cilento and Vallo di Diano with its unesco World Heritage status. This is the southern Italy of yesteryear, far away from the crowds of the Amalfi coast. Set off on hikes, bike rides or discover horse-riding. You can also hunt truffles or learn about wild herbs – make sure you try the area’s excellent olive oil and famous white figs (fico bianco del Cilento) as well as cured meats and cheeses from the hills.
Yet this villa is not too remote – it’s just over 5km by car to Agropoli with its coast and seaside charm, with supermarkets and other amenities even closer in the outskirts of the town. Dating as far back as Neolithic times, and with strong fishing traditions, the town has had a turbulent history and is now an attractive destination perched above the sea with its medieval castle and watchtower. In the summer, boat trips tour the coast and offer snorkelling and swimming opportunities or soak up the ambience along the picturesque promenade backed by pine trees and bustling cafes on the Lungomare San Marco.
Spend time at the sheltered bay of Baia di Trentova Agropoli (6.5km) or the beaches around Santa Maria di Castellabate (14.5km) and look out for the area’s fascinating sea caves. Further afield, beach-lovers should seek out some of the region’s gems such as the remote Baia degli Infreschi (78km) with its crystal-clear sea, reached via a hiking path, and Cala Bianca Beach (80km), known to be one of Italy’s loveliest beaches, accessible only by sea. Closer to home, visit the delightful fishing village of Acciaroli (35km) where Ernest Hemingway wrote The Old Man and the Sea.
