A short drive from beautiful town of Menaggio, Villa La Sosta is a characterful waterfront home set directly on the shores of Lake Como. This is such a wonderful place to slow down and savour lakeside life, where days are shaped by light on the water and evenings drift by to the gentle rhythm of the lake.
Spanning four floors, the house comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests across six air conditioned bedrooms. The main living level feels warm and welcoming, centred around a relaxed sitting area with fireplace and a generous dining table for long, shared meals. From here, doors open onto a covered terrace overlooking the lake. The fully equipped kitchen is well suited to both casual breakfasts and celebratory dinners.
Above, the upper two floors are dedicated to rest with thoughtfully styled bedrooms, some with glorious vistas of the lake. Each floor boasts three delightful bedrooms and a separate bathroom - one of the first-floor doubles also features its own shower and handbasin in the room.
On the garden level below, a games room with a billiards table creates an easygoing space for time together, complemented by a shower room that is perfect after a swim in the lake. Adding a touch of local character, the house is said to have once served as the village police station, and the villa manager is happy to point out where the old basement cell once allegedly stood!
Outside, the private lakeside garden is a true highlight. Manicured lawns and low stone walls border the water’s edge below, with sun loungers positioned to make the most of the views across Diana Bay and Comacina Island. Comfortable outdoor seating and a barbecue area create a natural setting for relaxed afternoons and evenings, while the private pier offers direct access for a refreshing dip.
Villa La Sosta sits on the western shore of Lake Como in Ossuccio, part of the much loved Tremezzina. This central location makes exploring the lake wonderfully easy, with Lenno just 2km away and ferry connections to Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio close at hand.
Set on the western shores of Lake Como, Villa La Sosta enjoys a lakefront setting on the edge of the little village of Ossuccio, part of the much-loved Tremezzina. Overlooking Comacina Island and Diana Bay, the setting is defined by lake views and gentle light.
The house is on the lakeside road connecting Como (25km) to Menaggio (10km) and beyond – all along this shoreline you will find little villages and welcoming restaurants serving traditional Lombard cuisine. Indeed. Tremezzina is prized for its central location on the lake, making it easy to explore while retaining an authentic feel. You can walk along the main road (no pavement) to a village restaurant-bar and a couple of other places to eat. Do note that there is no parking at the house, but the nearest car park (charges apply) is around 100m away.
For those who enjoy being outdoors, the Greenway del Lago di Como passes through Ossuccio, offering scenic walking routes that wind through lakeside villages, historic churches and peaceful stretches of countryside. It’s an ideal way to experience the area at a slower pace, with ever-changing views across the water.
Just along the shore lies Lenno (2km), home to a good range of amenities and regular ferry departures to Bellagio, Varenna and Menaggio. Also close by (reached on foot from Lenno or by boat), the famous Villa del Balbianello stands as one of Lake Como’s most celebrated landmarks, renowned for its romantic gardens and panoramic terraces.
