With its inviting living space, well-equipped eclectic kitchen, historic features, comfortable bedrooms, and private terrace, this holiday home in Seville provides a unique and memorable experience for anyone searching for an unforgettable stay in this culturally diverse and vibrant city. Furthermore, thanks to its prime location between Casco Antiguo and San Bernardo, this home allows for easy access to all the iconic landmarks, lively streets, and mouthwatering tapas spots that make this city so unique – so why not take full advantage of everything that Seville has to offer?
With a prime location close to Seville's Casco Antiguo (the Old Town) and San Bernardo, within easy reach of the city's iconic cathedral, this home is nestled amongst some of the Andalusian capital's best and most beguiling sites and attractions.
The area surrounding the Cathedral of Seville offers a captivating blend of history, culture, and hidden gems. While the cathedral itself is a magnificent Gothic masterpiece, exploring the cobbled streets and alleyways nearby unveils another world of enchantment. Take a stroll along the Guadalquivir riverside, once a bustling trade route, now a bustling hangout for locals and visitors to the city and a gateway to the lesser-known Jardines del Guadalquivir.
In search of something to satisfy those tastebuds? Various restaurants near the cathedral offer various culinary experiences, including everything from delicious Sunday brunches to traditional tapas. Of course, Seville's rich heritage and uniquely vibrant atmosphere make it a city worth exploring far beyond the grandeur of the Cathedral.
Casco Antiguo, also known as the old town of Seville, is a particularly captivating part of the city located close to the centre on the east bank of the Guadalquivir River and encompassing several distinct neighbourhoods, each with its own unique character.
One of the most famous neighbourhoods within Casco Antiguo is Barrio Santa Cruz: a charming area characterised by its narrow streets, picturesque squares adorned with fountains and orange trees, and vibrant tapas bars – all within easy reach from this home! As the former Jewish Quarter, Barrio Santa Cruz is home to significant landmarks such as the grand gothic Cathedral of Seville, its famous Moorish bell tower, La Giralda, and the opulent Real Alcázar Moorish fortress and palace. Visitors can also explore the Museo del Baile Flamenco, a fascinating flamenco museum and theatre that provides a fantastic insight into the history of this iconic and stirring Spanish dance.
Situated just north of Barrio Santa Cruz lies Barrio Alfalfa – a maze of narrow alleys, lively squares, and iconic sites. Plaza Alfalfa serves as its central hub, surrounded by popular cafes and restaurants. Among our favourite places to visit are the Plaza del Pan, home to a wealth of independent shops, Plaza de la Pescadería with its wide-open space, and Plaza del Cristo de Burgos, known for its lush greenery. One of the main attractions in Barrio Alfalfa is the stunning Casa de Pilatos, an elaborate Mudéjar-style Andalusian palace. The area also includes the trendy Soho Benita, which offers a collection of independent shops, boutiques, bars, and hotels popular among Seville's trendy, cosmopolitan set. If staying in the area, don't miss the opportunity to visit the striking Metropol Parasol: the world's largest wooden structure that offers a panoramic view of the city. The neighbourhood is also home to the Museo de Bellas Artes, an art gallery housed in a former monastery which showcases works from prominent Sevillian artists like Murillo and Vazquez.
Regarding dining and drinking, Casco Antiguo offers a wide range of options, and, indeed, the neighbourhood is renowned for its vibrant tapas scene, with numerous traditional and innovative tapas bars to explore. The atmospheric streets and squares provide a delightful setting to enjoy outdoor dining and experience the local cuisine in the company of locals and visitors alike. From traditional Andalusian dishes to international flavours, there is something for everyone.
Known as the capital of Andalusia, Seville has a fascinating past encompassing Roman, Moorish, and Christian influences and, as such, the city is rich in history, culture, and gastronomical delights. Seville's historical heritage is evident in its myriad architectural marvels, including the stunning Plaza de España and the unmissable Alcázar of Seville, a unesco World Heritage site. The city's Gothic cathedral, the third largest in the world, houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus and signifies the city's intrinsic link to the pioneering voyages that began to uncover the New World.
As one might expect in Spain, and particularly in a city as culturally eclectic as Seville, the yearly calendar is jam-packed with festivals, such as the Feria de Abril and Semana Santa (Holy Week), each of which showcases Seville's lively spirit and deeply rooted traditions. Sevillian cuisine is equally diverse and delicious, with tapas being a popular dining style. Visitors can savour local delicacies like gazpacho, salmorejo, pescaíto frito (fried fish), and – of course – the famous Seville oranges, which are used in various dishes and drinks and offer up a zesty hit of refreshment on hot Southern Spanish days.
