About this property

Resting in the large village of Littleport, in the Cambridgeshire countryside, is this delightful semi-detached cottage bungalow.

Internally, the cottage has been renovated by the owners to provide a light and welcoming accommodation, set across one floor. Look forward to spending your evenings curled up with your partner in the open-plan living space, catching up with your favourite shows, or enjoying a film night. The kitchen has been equipped with everything you could need for a weekend in the countryside, whilst the dining area provides ample space for a romantic meal with a sparkling glass of champagne. Once the evening draws to a close, retire to the spacious king-size bedroom where you can get some much needed rest for the day's ahead. The bedroom has a selection of contemporary furniture for storing your personal items, as well as matching bedside tables and lamps for some late-night reading. Delight in the family bathroom so you can enjoy a warm soak in the tub at the end of a tiring day or a refreshing power shower in the morning. Take a refreshing drink out to the enclosed garden, where you can let your furry companion run freely in the enclosed space, whilst you enjoy a spot of alfresco dining in the fresh country air. Littleport sits on the edge of a very flat area known as the Fens and still retains the same charm American servicemen grew to love during the Second World War. The village has a historic link to Harley Davidson, where there is a monument of an original motorcycle on display. The village is also known for the ‘Littleport riots which took place in 1816 and from where the phrase ‘being read the riot act‘ originated. The ‘High Street’ or shopping area is populated by a post office, three pubs, two fish and chips establishments and a tea room as well as the newsagents and convenience stores. There are numerous places to eat locally including ‘The Swan on the river’ you can eat and watch the riverboats pass by. This is a wonderful base for exploring the very best Cambridgeshire has to offer, including the bustling city of Ely.

Make sure to visit Ely Cathedral, a Norman Gothic-style cathedral with an on-site museum and a large tower with 288 steps, perfect for history enthusiasts. Also nearby is the 17th century Oliver Cromwell's House, which has since been restored and shows how the political leader once lived. Nature lovers will delight in exploring the Wicken Fen National Nature Reserve where you can explore the stunning wetland scenery.

Further afield is this wonderful bustling city of Cambridge, holding a whole host of attractions, you'll struggle to fit everything into one trip!

Make sure The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge University Botanic Garden, the Mathematical Bridge, the University Colleges, the Market and punting on the Cam are on your list of attractions to visit.

There is a railway station in Littleport with direct services to Cambridge and London to the south and Downham Market and Kings lynn to the north. Village Retreat is the perfect base for touring the very best sites of Cambridgeshire.

Littleport is a large village resting in East Cambridgeshire, within the Isle of Ely. Discover a small choice of shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants for all of your amenities, whilst the nearby cathedral city of Ely provides a larger choice. Ely has a range of tourist attractions to visit, such as Ely Cathedral, Oliver Cromwell's House, The Stained Glass Museum and Ely Leisure Village with a multiplex cinema, eateries and the 'Hive' sports complex.

More lighting needed for technical work in the lounge area. Good lights elsewhere. A message to Sykes: tell customers that you access the property through an arch - could be a problem if you carried bicycles on the car roof (I do for summer holidays).

Lovely welcome pack. Could do with better lighting in lounge as hard to see if both of you want to read at night. Also found parking a bit tight and our car isn't very large. However we enjoyed our stay and would book again if in the area.
